2nd Granite
Now that I have had a chance to fully assess our situation, I have a clearer
idea of what I should attempt to accomplish to advance our situation in The
Eternal Halls.

I feel that I should explain a little of how I came to occupy this post.
I was appointed by the King to be the official leader of the Eternal Halls.
This appointment was given to me by the King for my assertiveness, sense of
duty, and my willingness to sacrafice my own needs for the greater good.  Of
course once our populace are diverse enough to reliably choose a suitable leader,
of their own they will be given every opportunity to do so.

Antlia, my dear, and myself decided to come along with our good friend Dadam
to assist with the outpost that he had been discussing with the King.  My
abilities are more suited for leading for the short term, but because Dadam has
a clearer view of the future of the fortress, he was chosen to lead our crew for
the first year of our settling.

Antlia and I had truthfully decided to migrate here to elope.  He being the
direct relative of the nobility of the mountainhomes, and myself a little more
than a peasant daughter born to a family far removed from nobility, our
interest in each other had been frowned upon from the beginning. I
wasn't a proper wife for this man by their standards.  So travelling with him
to establish a new dwarven settlement seemed like the most honorable and reasonable
thing to do in my situation.  I hope that my choices turn out well.

Today I politely asked Aqizzar if it was possible to switch rooms with Antlia
so that we could have adjoining rooms. He graciously acquiesed.  I will dig
a hallway to connect our rooms and also temporarily set myself an office in
that corridor so I have a proper place from which to run my duties as the
outpost manager of labors.

15th Granite
I have begun better organizing the stockpiles.  For now I think creating
separate piles for different goods will be enough.  But eventually some proper
stockpile rooms should be dug.

Today news came that the Elven caravan was soon to arrive.  I have all of us
hauling the bins of stone crafts that we've made to the depot.  Antlia and I
are currently carving new areas to be used as bedrooms for any new citizens
that might arrive.

2nd Slate
Trading went well with the Elves.  I exchanged some of our crafted stone for
prickle berry seeds, longland grass seeds, fisher berry seeds, blade weed seeds,
and hide root seeds. I also acquired a Gian Jaguar from them, which I am very
excited about.  Hopefully we can get a mate for it.  I also got some rope reed
ropes, berries, barrels and some booze.  They were pleased with the trade, and
I will be pleased to be rid of them until next year.

4th Slate
Now that trading is completed I am going to dig out a large area in the sand
to the north. We can start to store our metal ore there, it is relatively close
to where our eventual forges will be.

5th Slate
I have found some native copper in my digging today.  This will be somewhat
useful for us.

3rd Felsite
I was alerted today that some migrants have begun arriving.  I haven't yet readied
thier rooms; they will have to sleep in the dirt until then.

5th Felsite
19 of our bretheren have come from the mountainhomes to take up permanent residence.
Their help will certianly ease the pressure on the rest of us.  And we are all
glad to see some fresh beards around the cavern.

8th Felsite
Reg Edanathel, a newly arrived peasant, has been acting strangely.

9th Felsite
Reg has taken a craftdwarf's workshop and began a construction after bringing
a lone chunk of food from our stockpile.

13th Felsite
We've struck some brown zircon today.

14th Felsite
Reg has created Rothurvad, a pine idol.  It is fairly worthless, but he has
high skills in woodcrafing.  This will be very useful.

I've asked that the rangers and trappers that have arrived to cease their hunting.
A future manager may override this if they so wish, but I am something of a
conservationist.

26th Felsite
I have laid out the digging plan for the new bedrooms.  Antlia and I have begun
our work digging.

27th Felsite
I've ordred the moving of the stone out of the food stockpile into the dump
near the masons and craftdwarve's workshop.  This will clear up some of the
clutter on the floor.  Now that we have more dwarves standing around this is
a task that is easily undertaken.  They do have to earn their keep, after all.

11th Hematite
Humans have arrived!  We are hauling some of our goods to the depot now.

I've given the peasants that arrived with the migrants the privelage of mining
alongside Antlia and I.  They will have to work hard to keep up, but I expect
they will learn quickly.  We now have five miners total in my crew.

14th Hematite
Trading went quite well with our Human neighbors.  I traded our stone crafts
for some barrels, drinks, bars of metal, wood, meats and cheeses.

25th Hematite
A couple of Kobold thieves have been spotted.  This time I nearly had one of our
nearby miners lodge a pick through their tiny skulls, but I refrained.  I will
not tolerate their lurking much longer, however.

26th Hematite
I talked with the liason today. I requested that they bring wood, drinks, seeds,
dogs, and meats for next year.  Musical instruments and weapons were what they
requested of us.  We will happily carve some instruments for them.  But I don't
feel comfortable handing out instruments of death, even to a friendly neighbor.
You just never know.

20th Malachite
Work continues on the new bedrooms, and they are now nearly finished.  I have
begun to worry about our defensive situation here.  We have no standing military
but I am not ready to designate any of our precious labor force to sparring.
What's worse is that we can be attacked from all directions due to our location.
Something will eventually need to be done about that, but I can't spread myself
too thinly now.

19th Galena
The bedrooms are furnished.  Everyone happily has a place to sleep now.

25th Galena
Righ Rakustrab my friend and one of the seven original founders has been possessed.
She took control of a clothier's workshop.  I will have to keep an eye on her.

26th Galena
We've struck levin opal today.

4th Limestone
Today one of my crew members showed me some beautiful pink garnet that we've dug out.
We've also hit some morion.

7th Limesone
We've dug out some Sphalerite.  The variety of this mountain is incredible!

9th Limestone
Hit yellow spessartine.

14th Limestone
I've noticed that Rith wants some thread.  We have none on hand, as our weavers
are very much busy bodies and have seen to it that it is immediately woven into
cloth.  I'll try to get some pig tails planted and harvested and processed.  I
fear that I have waited too long, though.  In my business, I had neglected to
check up on Rith.

The Dwarven Caravan comes today.  Time to prepare for trade!

17th Limestone
Trading went well.  They were happy to recieve the requested gloves of silk that
I've had our clothiers prepare for them.  In return I got us some wood, drinks
armor, a dog, food supplies.  I also got some thread, hopefully this is what
Rith requires.

18th Limestone
I talked with the mountainhome liason today.  I requested drinks, wood, and
dogs from them.  I also ordered the start of the smoothing of founders hall.

19th Limestone
We've got some puppies running around now.  This is good as we can soon begin
chaining them around the perimeter to help with the detection of unwanted
trespassers.

9th Sanstone
I've connected our farms to the rest of the fort by way of an underground tunnel.
I've also locked the doors on the surface.  We should try to stay within the fort
as much as is possible.

11th Sandstone
Rith has been stricken with melancholy.  I know this is my fault, and I fear that
I will now lose a good, old friend.  Perhaps I was not as fit for leading as the
King had assumed.  I am going to take a break for a while and rest.  The stress
of leadership certainly does wear on one.  I understand Dadam's desire to be
done with it for a time.

1st Moonstone
Winter is here.  I have been expanding the dwarven apartments with my crew.
The work is hard as the stone is damp and conditions are miserable from the
river above.

2nd Moonstone
A sad day.  Farewell Rith, my dear friend.  I hope that you rejoin the stone from
which you were carved!

12th Moonstone
As work continues on the rooms, slowly, we have struck graphite.

16th Moonstone
Sigun, one of our craftsdwarves, found a Kobold thief trying to make off with
some of our crafts.  The thief ran off in the cowardly fashion of Kobolds.

24th Moonstone
I've dug out all fo the wet rooms. The work was difficult but at least others
won't have to deal with the miserable task of digging there.  We have plenty
of spare bedrooms now.

28th Moonstone
I've ordered more wood be harvested for the crafting of beds and chests.

17th Opal
I am going to makestockpiles for food and drinks near the dining room.  A large
area adjacent to it, to the west.  It will replace the food piles above, when
finished.

4th Obsidian
Zuglar Stullikot, bone carver was possessed.  We've had some very moody comrades
lately.

8th Obsidian
Zuglar started construction.  Turtle shell, gneiss blocks, and conger eel
leather is what he required.

11th Obsidian
We've hit some stibnite today.

Zuglar created Sudir Ethad, a turtle shell amulet.  I'm not impressed.

13th Obsidian
Reg Edanathel has given birth to a beautiful baby girl.  This is our first Native
Born child.  Keshan be praised!

20th Obsidian
I have the haulers occupied with outfitting all of our rooms with cabinets
as I write this.  It is about time that we begin to properly furnish our
quarters.

26th Obsidian
Today I ordered the brewing of 60 drinks.  We are not low on booze by any measure
but there's never too much I say.

1st Granite
This marks the end of my duties as manager.  I only have a few comments for the
next managers.  We are lacking in the area of security for our fort.  I had planned
to address that, but I was too busy with other matters.  The garbage dump that
I used for stone is located in the hallway near the masons and craft shops.
I have haulers currently clearing the newest food stockpile that is near the
dining hall, they should not be occupied for too long.  I now will resume my
duties as the General Manager of The Eternal Halls, as well as a miner, and leave
the reigns to someone else for a time.

Antlia, my dear

Heh, it's always sorta amusing when the game pairs two people from the succession lineup.

Nice writeup though.  The place has expanded a bit without being reckless, and you have more micromanagement style than I do.

We need to start training a small military and set some traps.

Heh.  See, this is sorta what makes succession games interesting.  Watching the different fort style clash all over each other.

Mid-game update!

This character is pretty grumpy and thinks that the only right way is his :P.

Here is the current logs:
4th Granite
I have arrived here to this "Fort" called Zilirīton and what do i see? Dwarves wasting valuable work time on drinking up all booze

and not even a SINGLE mason in sight. Oh and that hill is a eyesore, i will remove soon enough.

I guess i need to inspire some fear into these maggots and learn the true industrial spirit. The end of syrup roast days are over! I have started the excavation of our new metal processing plant. (I do still not have fricking idea why my predecessors left all ore to rot.)

Time to rally these incompetent Dwarves and make some profit!

22nd Granite
Our forge area is allmost complete, the Slaves... Err, Dwarves seem to have been to relaxed. I hear complaints about why they can't party all day long. Want to know why? I want SOMETHING done in this darn place. They either have to get used to this or i will feed them to the Imps.

In other news, nothing much have happened except a few pathetic kobolds tried to sneak into the fortress. But they ran away,

pests.

I have also assigned a few useless Dwarves to actually do something useful now! I forced them to operate the smelters and make brass!

P.S: Did the original outpost team not bring with them a weapon smith!? I want to have a word with the planner of this "Fortress".

5th Slate
My excavation for Sphalerite and Native Copper are going as planned, i do not care wether it makes our fortress look ugly but these are riches! Oh and i will bring down that eyesore of a mountain soon.

11th Slate
My minions have finally excavated the Sphalerite and Native Copper vein. :D And our Furnace Operators are melting Brass for

their whole lives worth! (Not that they were worth much to begin with...)

Now so can i concentrate on get rid of that eyesore wich have been hurting my eyes for so long.

Heroes among Dwarves!

14th Slate
Begun removing that stupid hill. The Furnace Operators will have plenty to do with all mined ore.

23rd Slate
Asked kindly my Metal Smith to make Brass Statues, that will raise our wealth substantly! I have now changed the orders for our

Furnace Operators to melt copper for our warriors.

3rd Felsite
Nevermind about the statues, i will make a grand tomb out brass for ME instead because i am such a good leader.

The eyesore is practically gone by now and it looks better. What to do with all rock? I will maybe make a tower out of it.

The true Nobles among Dwarves! Those who work that is!

19th Felsite
Begun construction on my tomb, it will be made of brass baby!

My Tomb in it's pathetic infantile state...

24th Hematite
My Tomb is nearing completion and the Dwarves are performing surprisingly well! After my Tomb is completed so will i start making sure our warriors get some real weapons.

12th Malachite
My Tomb do only need a roof now to be complete! I guess all of the scum in this fortress will be baffled by my supreme tomb!

23rd Malachite
My Tomb is finished! Now can i get my eternal rest in a tomb made completely out of Brass!

Ain't my Brass Tomb beutiful :D?

1st Galena
I am finally making weapons for our small emergency squad. Iron is too expensive to use for now, so Copper armor and weapons will do.

The journal ends abruptly... (Continued later)

From the personal journal of Omer Vabokudar
1st Felsite

My successor has been working us all to the bone! No rest for the wicked, I suppose.  I am currently seeing to the orders of taking down the hill outside.  I  was very fond of it, and sad to see it go. But orders are orders.  While the slave driver can be fairly hard to get along with, things are definitely getting done, and I believe that is something everyone can appreciate.  Even if we are all quite exhausted.  My break time is nearly up, better get back to digging before the boss sees me!

Sad news...

Omer got crushed by some ground not long after...

Scribed note from the journal
"5th Sandstone
`Omer“ the original founder tragically died when some dirt was being removed. `Dadam“ did not seem to mind to replace her in her other roles."

Maybe the hill removal could have been planned better, but hey, accidents happen I suppose.

Still, I liked having the hill there.  It was a unique terrain feature!

The mid-play update is a good idea in a sense.  Less time waiting for the others to read what's happening.

So someone finally got the magma forges running, eh?  I didn't want to get a dwarf killed for mining the channels, and I couldn't figure a way to do that while still blocking off the place with bars.

... You did block off the channel with steel bars, right?  So the fire imps/magmamen won't eat us?

Darn!  :D

Antlia you will be left a lifetime widower!  And before I could bear you any children, a shame! ;)

On my next turn I'll take up another Dwarf and set them up as a labor manager.  I like using the job manager, and I like having my little guy running around ordering Dwarves around! :p  That is, if no one objects.

I like the mid update as well.  I'll do that on my next turn.  I didn't do it on this one because I began and finished my turn in one sitting.  But that has a lot to do w/ high fps from having a small number of Dwarves.

It's fun to roleplay a slaving swine ;D.

I hope someone REALLY kills him by feeding him to the fishies :P. He is after all not a likeable character.

3 months left ingame time....
