Haven't posted in a while, so it's nice to come back and see I'm still a badass.  I imagine the briefing went something like this.

"Drew up a plan for th' attack.  'Not to scale o'course, but I'm sure you get th' gist.  You go left, I'll go right, an' we meet in th' middle.  Figure it should be 'bout a dozen each and the lanky sops'll break off.  If Mosul or Cog 'member to show up, all's th' better for it.  Right, 'ere we go."

Yeah, pretty much.

Here's another screenie.

The other half of them are -> that way, off screen.

You're the dude with the blue shoulder pads, by the way.

EDIT: Better screenie. The other one kinda sucked.
EDIT2: Grrrr. I can't get the screenie to work properly. Anyway, the little green slashies are the humans.

They're a lot more fearsome in person, I assure you.

EDIT3: You know, I just realized something. Aqizzar is not only kicking ass - he is doing it while nauseous and vomiting all over the place.

It's a psychological advantage.  Would you stand and fight a crazed axedwarf running at you and hewing your compatriots while projectile vomiting wildly?

The FPS hit sucks.  I don't know what causes it, but a lot of times sieges and ambushes drop FPS pretty hard.

Weird that the humans hate us so much.  Who attacked them?

I handled the Goblins with no problems. I think it's just the fact that the humans are mounted, and judging by how their icons switch between horse and man, the game considers them to be separate units.

40 humans invade, on 40 horses. 80 more units for my computer to track - which, by the way, is just barely handling all of our dwarves.

Yucky numbers...

By the way, things are starting to slack up a bit as Aqizzar kills the humans and their horses. I should be able to play close to normal, soon.

Anybody still using the Hammer's cabin I put up there? I left it with a hole in the roof for food drops, so one could keep a noble secure and away from the rest of the fortress.

He's being a good boy right now, so I'm letting him keep his office in the fortress.

This is weird. I have killed all but six of the invaders (So that is 12 left, including their horses), yet the FPS is showing nearly no improvement at this point. I'm beginning to wonder if it's slowed permanently or something.

So, if it finally turns out that I can't move on, what should we do? You guys want the save where it is now, or you wanna just revert back to iluogo's?

Maybe there are hidden ambush groups or something?  I don't know what would slow it down that much.

I say try to play it out until the siege is broken, and see if that fixes it.  I dunno what else to say.

Yeah for me sometimes fps doesn't go back to normal til everyone leaves.

Aqizzar: LMFAO at that drawing! :D  That's pretty freaking funny.  :P

Okay, I vote that if the FPS doesn't fit that we keep the save and give it to a good computer to run just for a little while to see if it fixes, then give it to the next one in line (or back to the current ruler, if you still want it).

And only then, if it doesn't work, do we revert.

Here's another idea: if we get really screwed, I say that we kill everybody, abandon, reclaim, and start over with a controlled population?  Something our pathetic comps can handle?  Just a suggestion! :)

Oh yeah a Gneiss Bed...FUNNY!  :P  It is very gneiss  :P

Argh....!

I tried over and over, but for some reason it just crashes on me now. There seems to be nothing that can stop it. I've run into a brick wall with nothing but a spoon to dig through.

So, here is the save file. If anyone wants to try it from here, feel free. A damn shame that I couldn't finish it myself.

Yup, save crashes out about five or ten seconds in.  I get like 45 FPS but it keeps crashing.  Marine, you want to restart your turn with the previous save, or just skip your turn and the game reverts anyway?

What is with this game and bugged saves?  Geez.

edit:  Abandoning and reclaiming does 'fix' the crash, but it is kind of hard to recommend, just because TEH at this point has thousands of items, and they get strewn all over everywhere.   Plus reclaiming is full of bugs, which isn't good.

Oddly enough, the legends screen says the siege was mostly goblins, which is weird  Also it says someone in 107 rejected a peace offer from the same group.  Anyway I say Marine King should just redo the turn, but if he doesn't wanna, we should revert.

If y'all are okay with it, I certainly don't mind starting over.

Hopefully it doesn't get a bug once again...
