Alright, here is about half a year, done. Quite fun, mostly, with few problems.
All, of course, except the last... Continued at the end of this post.

7th Granite, Year 108.
It has been a week, and I have finally come to terms with it. I am now in charge. Everyone comes to me - my room is fast becoming too small to accommodate everyone (Note - arrange for a bigger one. I am in charge, am I not?). I need to write off permission to cut trees, smooth walls, make crafts - I even have to tell the dwarves, specifically, to clean up the mess of stones littered everywhichwhere (A mess, I might add, that I had not noticed for some reason until I attained this office...). I am beginning to wonder if they would even bother crying out for help if they tripped and cracked their skulls without first asking my permission. I hope never to find out.
11th Granite, Year 108.
The elves have arrived. This will be interesting. I've heard the stories, of course, but I've yet to actually meet an elf. I think I'll accompany Dadam, our trader, to the depot when they set up shop.
In addition, my new "office" is well underway. I was dismayed to learn that the only glassmaker in the fortress was chained in the jail - if you can call it that; damned fool was living in more luxury than nearly everyone else in the fortress - by Aqizzar, for some offense no one seemed to quite remember. I've assigned a new one to get the job done, as well as get a second wood burning workshop set up, as I can't seem to find the one that already exists.
16th Granite, Year 108.
Short entry. A dwarf by the name of Erush Edemsefol locked herself up in a masons workshop some days ago, though I didn't hear about it until now. It seems she has made an... interesting bed. It is not to my taste, but my advisers assure me it is priceless.
26th Granite, Year 108.
The elves are not quite what I expected. They are tall, frail, and wore what looked like wooden armor. I did not believe it at first, but it is true. They did not bring much, except barrels, and barrel, and barrels,
and barrels, of cloth. I didn't bother buying any, and they should be gone soon.
Also, the Countess showed up today, along with her consort. I'd thought we'd already had a Count overlooking things, but apparently he disapeared somehow... Regardless, I have given her the late Count's rooms, as they seem properly opulent.
6th Hematite, Year 108.
Glass takes much longer to produce en-masse than I had initially expected. I may have to scale back the plans for my office a bit - that is, if I ever plan on using it during my reign...
15th Hematite, Year 108.
Goblins! It seems I face my first true challenge as leader of this fortress. I must rally the guards, and get everyone inside. I shall document the rest of the details after the vile things have been slaughtered.
19th Hematite, Year 108.
It is done. They are all corpses now, our haulers taking them away to rot in the sun.
At first, all went well. I initiated the call to arms, and all of our military members, led by the Captain of the Guard, Aqizzar, arrived at the main entrance in short order. I must say I am rather impressed by their discipline. I ordered them to go out and deal with the vile creatures, before they came too close to the walls. Aqizzar gave me a blank look, but obeyed silently.
It worked, to an extent. The group they went after was slaughtered, with not an injury among them. The problem was that there were
second and
third groups that I'd not noticed. Thankfully the Guard Dogs and marksdwarves made short work of them. The only casualty of the day was an unlucky Wrestler who, armed with naught but a few pieces of copper armor, came too close to a goblin spear. I shall grieve, but all in all, I think it went well. We now simply need to clean the blood off of the main entrance walls.
7th Malachite, Year 108.
I visited the construction site of my Office today. The first floor's walls are complete, and the ground-level floor is half-way done. Construction is already begun on the second floor, and soon the second-floor walls will be erected as well.
One other thing I noticed - and which thoroughly disgusted me - was that the workers involved in the construction seem to have left vomit all over the place, and didn't even bother to clean it up! I've a mind to throw several of them in the brig to teach the others a lesson, but I do not want to slow progress on my Office. As it is, I fear I'll never step foot in it before my time here is done.
16th Limestone, Year 108.
First goblins, and now we are under siege by humans. Sense tells me that they will be somewhat harder to deal with, what with those dirty beasts they ride on. However, I am more experienced now, and will not make the same mistakes as last time. I will make another entry once this ordeal is over.
***********************************
Here's the problem. Once the humans appeared, my FPS dropped to, well, the FPS reader says 0, though things
are moving. Very, very, abysmally slowly. I've tried everything to get it to speed up; set G_FPS_CAP to 5; turned off temperature and weather... I don't know what else to do.
I'm going to let it run through the night and see if the siege is over in the morning, but I don't know. I may have to give up.
We shall see!
EDIT: Okay, looks like this is going to work. Aqizzar and Company (Or should I say, Aqizzar and his Trusty Friend, as they are the only two who decided to not be drinking or something when the humans attacked) finally made it to the humans, who all grouped together in one corner. They are winning, slowly but surely. The main problem is that the humans keep running away from them on their confounded horses.
Cowards.
So far, the score is Aqizzar and .co = 3 kills. Which means we have about 35 horsemen left to kill.
*Sigh*
Gonna be a long night.
