What we do is we kill everything, reclaim, and manufacture a way to kill all but one. That should help.

Even this game can't combat boredom.

Indeed. We made a solemn oath as gamers to never let either this thread or this fortress die. When no dwarf is left to defend this monstrosity, it must be reclaimed! When FPS dies, we must destroy the works of past generations and then reclaim!

You can also consider modding stone and cloth to boil away, thus eliminating the gobbo crap and the loose stone (and potentially providing means to massacre dwarves).

You know what, you're right.  I'm going to murder the fortress somehow.  Or somebody else can if I can't pull it off.  I just need to think of a way to really screw up the people living there now, without rendering the fort completely unlivable.  Maybe drop a finite lava reservoir down the main stairs and wait for people to go berserk.

Or the boiling stone and cloth thing.  Not only would it get rid of all the excess items fucking up the fort, but it would probably have all kinds of hilarious unintended consequences.  Or in that vein, mod the dogs to explode.

And THEN we reclaim, right?

In a world of exploding dogs, boiling plant fibers, and molten stone! I like it!

Hey folks, sorry about the lack of updates, been busy this week.  I do have some news, though it's not good.

Project Break Reality kinda fell through.  Turns out, you can't alter the boiling point of cloth (of any kind).  Leather yes, but that's way too much work.  I did try appending really low melting/boiling points (about 6000 dwarfdegrees) to all the stone types I thought were in the fort.  Game came to a screeching halt as soon as I unpaused it.  It's still running now, but it's been about ten minutes and hasn't started moving yet.

So that's probably not going to work.  But my magma pipe into the stairwell should turn out fine.  As long as I can power it.  And remember how to properly build a pump-tower.  And figure out how to build a cut-off switch with no nickel or adamantium.

I could just dig down and get some, but opening up the demon pit might be even worse at this point.  Maybe.

UPDATE: Dammit, I wasn't watching and the game finally picked up again without me!  Well, about 10000 stones disappeared, along with roughly 105 dwarves and dozens of animals who all instantly froze to death.  Holy crap, you should see this announcement log.

So all the stone has dissapeared, along with half the population? Excellent.

What is the current FPS?

Only went back up to about 7.  Also, of the remaining 69 dwarves, I think two children were the only ones not grievously wounded.  And they still didn't tantrum.  And all of the doors, bridges, gears, and floorgates disappeared too (being made of stone), so the fort was instantly flooded and rendered uninhabitable.

Yeah, I just rewound and went on regardless.  I punched into the Pits and slew all the demons, lost three peasants but otherwise no problems.  I'm still working on my magma-dripper for the main stairwell.  I don't know why, since I already know you could drop a neutron bomb on the place like I already did without causing an angry spiral, but what the Hell, I'm doing it anyway.

Hey guys, the Eternal Halls still live.  Sorry about the delay, buried under work, yadda yadda.

Anyway, the magma-dripper over the main stairwell is ready.  Shall I turn the valve?
