Happy now?

Heh, Cos of my forum settings I have 23 pages of Eternal halls... instead of the 74 when logged off.
It's funny cos when the guy was arguing cos he read 45 pages of into hell, i was all like.. wah? There isn't even 45 pages of this!

No. I'm not a ditz. I just forgot exactly how monumentally much extra i get per page.

And now, time for the update!

Oranges Log:
-------------
4th Slate:
Someone gave birth to a little girl today.
Doesn't affect my tower, my hands are tied.

12th Slate:
Some guy went nauseous and stunned near the top of my tower.
I've no idea what happened to him, but he's blocking progress.
I've ordered six beds to be administered to Hammer's quarters.

25th Slate:
Drat! A small portion of my tower has collapsed!
No worry, I've cut back on the stability of the new levels to make up for lost time.

7th Felsite:
Migrants?! Fine. I have no idea what they want from me, but I there are here nonetheless.
Two of them. Oh well.

17th Felsite:
Some dwarf named Logem grew up today.
This place is overflowing with suprises.

27th Felsite:
A bloke named Zaneg went loopy today.
We're just going to ignore it again.

1st Hematite:
A whole season has gone by in this bleak, timeless world.
The tower is starting to look impressive.
I can't wait to see the look on those long elven faces!

10th Hematite:
Some humans came with supplies.
They can piss off.
Zaneg finally came around and made some useless scepter.
This what you will.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

16th Hematite:
Aban the cat has died old age.
Finally those damned pets are starting to rot.

Anyways, here's a new mock-up of the fortress.
I swear I will complete it by the end of the '17.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And that's it for tonight.
Also, sorry about the huge resolution.
I use a 26" wide-view at top resolution and if I don't upload them at that size they appear dinky on my screen.

That's an awesome tower.

I'm planning something grand for my megaproject. Impossibly grand... which is annoying, cos i'll probably never finish it!

Okay! I'm back up on the web!
And don't worry about what I said earlier.
it's really easy to finish a year in a week.
i'll probably be done by tonight.
Anyways,
Read up:

Orange's Log:
19th Hematite:
There was a goblin attack today.
I just sent in the guys and they were gone in no time.
The only wierd part is, a spattering of blood ended up at the top of my tower.
How? I have no clue.
My current theory is that its Aquizzar's fault.
It's not his blood of course, but still his fault.

Oh crap! There are still a bunch of the buggers left.
They've cut down a couple of our own.
Rest at peace Champion Urdim, and marksdwarf Tun.
Let's hope no more fall today.

20th Hematite:
It was a hard battle through the night, but that was the last of them.
We've only lost two.
Some guy went tantrum for a few seconds, but he's calmed down.
I hope to Armok that we can get through this without a despair wave.

Let's continue construction now damnit!

9th Malachite:
Some guy named Tulon is throwing a tantrum.
Meh.

1st Limestone:
Autumn has arrived!
Half way done!
Two dwarves named Thob and Dastot keep throwing tantrums.
Couple of nutters.

3rd Limestone:
Some guy named Ablel has fallen to Thob in combat.
He says the guy had it coming to him.
I think Thob needs to calm down.
Oh he has.
I wonder how long it will last this time.
No matter, soon they will probably hammer him.
Solving (hehe) the whole conflict.

12th Limestone:
I've nearly ran out of olivine.
So I'm having it all mined out.

14th Limestone:
Thob went off and destroyed an iron chain.
Oh! And just in time for the goblins to show up!
Whatever.
Go get 'em Aquizzar!

----

Well, they're all dead, sure enough,
But so are five of my precious workers!
Dastot, Kikrost, Sigun, Mosus, and Rovod have all fallen to the green menace.

15th Limestone:
Now some guy named Ast is dead! How?
And Teb now too? What?

3rd Sandstone:
Some kid Goden grew into a child.
Sounds horrible.

11th Sandstone:
Some kid named Nil grew up today.
Good for him.
Now he can help build the tower.
And throw up on it.

12th Sandstone:
There's been a lot of aging lately.
Some cat met his doom.
Father time waits for no one.
Except me.
Bitches.

22nd Sandstone:
Today my tower surpassed the old tower in height.
I intend to do some pretty snazzy things at the top, so height is important.

5th Timber:
Kogan became an adult.
Woot!

10th Timber:
Someone named Sazir has given birth to a girl.
The tower is getting taller than ever.

22nd Timber:
I'm adding the crown to my wonderous tower.
Oh yeah, and some guy went possessed.
Good thing I don't care.
Oh, and this moat project I'm working on went badly.
Oops.

1st Moonstone:
Winter is upon us!
The tower gets closer and closer to completion.
Another crappy artifact:

I feel my time here will be over soon.

What?!

 :)

Edit: That tower used all of the microline I could find except for ~20 stones.
I'm considering the addition of more spines.

...Google.  Orthanc was Sauruman's tower in the Lord of the Rings.  So it's usually black.  I know Orthanc sounds like another obscure Dwarf Fortress-y stone type, but at any rate, that's what it looks like.

Saurumon's tower?

I never new the name of the tower, I just thought it was "Tower Isengard".

Thanks!

EDIT:

Oops! I just realized I've been putting U's in Aqizzars name.
Sorry dude.
I think that you're my favorite forum member ever.

EDIT AGAIN:

And here it is:

1st Obsidian:
My last month.
I am certain now.
I can not stand all of this annoyance any longer.

3rd Obsidian:
Seven cats died today!
I feel all tingly inside.

*The log is torn off here*

-------------------------------------------

And that's that!

Notes:

If anybody removes the "statue garden" from my tower,
I'll be very upset.

I've added a tomb near the base.
And filled it with all of the statues I could find.

I kind of messed up the west gate-house tunnel deal,
and maybe even trapped somebody inside.

The "moat" I tried to make is very jenkey.
Fix it if you can.

If somebody wants to pump water to the top of my tower, I'm totally game.
Modify it however you want.
There are a few open levels at the top to build more if necessary.
I would suggest moving my tomb a square higher, then pumping straight up through the center tiles.
I would love to see water falling over the edges of that spikey carrot.
I probably would have tried it myself, but I have no idea how pumps work in DF.

Have fun!

Well... That was unexpected.. I'm walking to the mountainholme, just another dwarf and his family looking to make a living in a new place, or become a bum there too, and suddenly - I get kidnapped! Some lout, hits me over the head with a blackjack or something, and I wake up here! I'm not tied up, i'm where I was headed anyway. In fact, the only thing different is a painful head, a book on me called "diary of the rulers", and a sign that's been pinned to me saying "Hello, My name is RULR"

So... they've given me a mandatory promotion eh... Well... Time for me to do what I can... Nothing.
Wait. I might start a megaproject - To help Establish My Position.

So... time to dig out a humongous area... to make a symbol for all incoming traders to see.

EDIT: Question: How does one channel out humongous areas using ramps? Preferably without collapses and killings. I know that using ramps is what is *meant* to be done... just how?

So anyways, I walk outside, trying to pull this stupid sticker off - when a bloody dwarf comes along, and says "Ye're the new ruler? Good, the last one escaped" To which I wittingly replied
"Go Dig a pit to hell!".

He said that they've been trying for years. Just where have I ended up?
So I told him, as an alternative - He should go dig a huge chunk out of a mountain for me.
So, of he goes, with his sixty other bloody miners, and starts eating away at this mountain like a bunch of bloody bearded rock-termites!

I need a drink, and a lie-down.
