Admini Guard Captain Aqizzar Atöldastot, Date Unknown

I do not know what has gripped the halls.  It feels as if we have drifted into another world, where the hours pass as normal, but the days stand still.  Is this a curse from the mines?  The last revenge our entombed lords?  Has our fetid abode finally descended into Hell itself?  Terror and despair lurks among us like a miasmic wraith, sapping our will to live, taunting us with a death we cannot reach.

But if will yet has meaning here, then I can truly stand no more.  I swear by the frozen air in my lungs, that the Eternal Halls will escape this mad prison.  I swear, life we go on.

Thursday is the Eternal Halls' birthday.  I can't say I'll actually have a finished save by then, but if nobody else is going to step up and continue this game, then as one of the original players, I guess I will myself.  Stay tuned.

Well, I'll continue as soon as I can find the last save anyway.

Don't forget that there's another guy before you, although he hasn't been active since May, so I doubt he'll show up.

Okay, so I downloaded the save a few days ago.  5 FPS.  And it takes nearly ten minutes to load and save.

I'm going to be honest.  I think this place is dead.  Oh, it could still keep going - I've even got some big plans.  I'll give it a shot over the weekend, but damn is it going to be slow.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Eternal Halls...

Do you get better FPS if you play at the default 80x25?

Or, try turning temp/weather off. You don't really need 'em too much.

I suggest dumping all excess items into magma.

What happens if you designate a built statue for dumping?

The only problem with this is all the stone in the water system.

Kill all the animals. I did on The Turn that Never Happened, and that worked.
I got a good 5 or 6 extra fps.

Destroy all the stone. That's usually my number one FPS-killer.

open up task manager, go to dwarfort.exe and right click.
Priority>AboveNormal.
If that doesn't work, set to the one above that.
No higher though, or anything else will be unbelievably slow.

That only helps if other stuff is running in the background.

Kill the children as well. It's not as if we need more dwarves.

Unless you're running in a hypothetical computational vacuum (a concept which I just made up), there will be other stuff running in the background.
