Hiya, I just wanted to try out dwarf companion, but it does not work.
I followed the checklist on the homepage of DC perfectly, but it keeps on asking for the libglib-2.0-0.dll ...

So I'm in trouble with DC

Reinstalling the shizzle with the all in one installer does not work either

ok, screw this >_< installed several 'missing' .dll files, still nothing, now it gives me an error about not finding something is wants from an .dll

Uh, you do realize that such add-on programs are heavily reliant on the version of dwarf fortress? I don't think that DC has been updated to the new release. You'll just have to wait.

Actually it has.

The missing .dlls means you didn't install everything. Just do what I just did. (got it working that way!) Check the Dwarf Companion thread.. that is in the same section as this thread.

This is not due to new version, I am using this with 39c, this one works with DC.

I am downloading 39d soon, and off course will not try DC untill I know it will work with that version too.

At the time he posted that, 39d wasn't released AFAIK.

Regardless, it was a comment on the fact that so many people complain on the forums about un-official and un-supported 3rd party stuff.

Is this the Dwarf Companion forum?  No.   There was a handy thread for it, though, as he later realized.

Sorry, but to me it's just too similar to someone posting on some other game's forum about something like a keygen not working and expecting help.   And from this, I can easily see why Toady's hesitant to make it easy for people to throw their own graphical rendering whatevers and such onto the game- all the different versions and such would undoubtedly cause a huge chorus of people clamoring on the DF forums for help- which it ain't Toady's job to provide.

True, and to the maker of the tweak, sorry about this. I could not let my frustration in about a program so promising not working for me, most probably because of an own error.
I still would really like to use this tweak on Dwarf Fortress, but the error I had seems to be an permanent one (updates of DF does not change .dll's as far as I know, exept maybe the jmod.dll).
So if anyone would know how to solve this problem (search function did not work, I tried this before posting this tread.), please help me.

*  Posting the exact error message you have helps, word for word.

*  Look in your system32 folder for the dll it mentions and verify it is the exact same size and same date as the one that wants to install with the GTK/Python package.  The installer wasn't be able to overwrite the dll if an older version already existed so I had to boot into safe mode and overwrite it myself.
