[39c] Dwarves Refusing to Haul Refuse
« on: July 22, 2008, 04:26:56 pm »

Right, ignoring the possibility of a pun in the title...

I've been playing DF now for a little over a month and have enjoyed every minute of it. However, in my latest fort (I am trying the challenge of building in a forest without any picks, everything made of wood) my dwarves are refusing to haul refuse to the designated stockpiles. I've tried deleting and reassigning them and it doesn't change if I narrow down what is allowed in the stockpile.
This is kind of important for my fort as my butcher's shop is massively cluttered with bones and skulls, my craftsdwarf's workshop is massively cluttered with a dwarf in a strange mood and my food stockpile is covered in shells.
I am pretty sure I havn't missed anything stupid, although please enlighten me if I have.
Thanks in advance...

Do you have refuse hauling enabled in the 'o-R' menu?  Is the relevant refuse outside, and do you have hauling refuse from outside enabled (same menu, off by default)?

Ah ha!

Right, the problem was solved by changing the orders to allow dwarves to haul refuse from 'outside' even though the tiles that have refuse on them are labeled 'indoors'. Is this another case of 'outdoors' meaning 'above ground' and the suchlike?

Thanks a lot!
