using tweak
« on: July 21, 2008, 04:41:41 pm »

The wiki doesn't seem to help with this. I would like to know how to use tweak to reveal tile and to change tiles (like to magma or sand).

To reveal all tiles, have DF running, have Tweak running, and designate the entire bottom floor to be dug out. Double click on Reveal in the Tweak window.

As for changing tiles, I'd avoid it if possible, it sets the tile temp to 0 degrees which ends up freezing anyone who touched that square.

I managed to figure out the lava and I don't need to worry about temp on that. Nothing for sand yet. But you can set the temp it looks like with the tweak but I haven't tried that yet. Whats the normal safe temp for dwarfs?

From the raws, the normal (safe) temperature for a dwarf is 10067 df-degrees.

That sounds like the melting point I read from another thread...

Oh, could be, maybe I read it wrong, I thought that 10000 was the RL equivalent of 0 and that the [HOMEOTHERM:10067] meant that 10067 was the optimum temperature level

Well, from how they freeze to death I'd imagine the 0 was in KELVIN.

What exactly is DF temperature measurement based on, anyway?

It seems REALLY high, so I'd say some made up scale where the only 'real' temperature is absolute zero?

Huh, seems I was right. For once.

From the wiki:

Conversions -
Code: [Select]
DF scale = [FAHRENHEIT] + 9968

DF scale = [CELSIUS]*9/5 + 10000

Example measurements

Code: [Select]
Water freezes 10000 32ºF 0ºC

Dwarf body temperature 10067 99ºF 37ºC

Water Boils 10180 212ºF 100ºC

Fire man 10800 832ºF 444ºC

Magma man 12000 2032ºF 1111ºC

Magma-safe materials 12568 2600ºF 1427ºC
