Well, red was a big part of Nazi propaganda too. Pure Aryan blood and all that jazz.

Maybe so, but it was that orangey-tinted Communist red, and there was a yellow star in the corner.

I guess the communist flag might come from thinking that his ideology called National Socialism has something to do with actual Socialism (which sometimes mentally translates to Communism)

The red in the Nazi propaganda was to make the labour classes think Hitler had also some sort of pro worker mentality.

I think it's more "We don't like this person, so we'll associate them with things people assume are bad without actually knowing anything about them" like the Wal-Marx thing.

Asheron: Isn't the pro-worker mentality colour blue? Red is the colour of revolution and anger.

LASD: Communism is a form of socialism. Socialism doesn't necessarily translate to communism. So people aren't wrong when they associate communism with socialism. Just that they're doing it the other way around. Then there's the whole problem of political parties misnaming themselves to hide what they really are ala "People's Republic of China".

It sure isn't over here. Blue is liberal ( read = big corporation boys ) and red is socialist ( read = unefficiency maximizers )

All of which is extraordinarily perplexing to us Americans.  Here, the Right has adopted red as a badge of honor over the past ten years, when not thirty years ago the very same people slapped bumper stickers on their cars saying, "Better Dead than Red."  Might have something to do with conservatism being naturally perspectiveless...

Well, you nailed it, actually. The past ten years. World war II was, luckily for all of us, a bit earlier.

And I would like to say that socialism = baby communism.
Communism = sort of socialism
Socialism != communism

LASD: Communism is a form of socialism. Socialism doesn't necessarily translate to communism. So people aren't wrong when they associate communism with socialism.
I did know that, that's why I thought someone might have confused them. I removed the 'somehow' from my post because it made it sound like the people were completely wrong by associating them. I was quite tired.

My thoughts follow so mysterious ways that I have sometimes a hard time making out their message in the written form. :P I'll continue working on it (and go to sleep earlier).  ;D

Asheron: Isn't the pro-worker mentality colour blue? Red is the colour of revolution and anger.
At least the Finnish pro-worker association uses red.

EDIT:
And I would like to say that socialism = baby communism.
Communism = sort of socialism
Socialism != communism
Precisely. That confuses people, especially when seasoned and stewed with misguiding names.

Economic Left/Right: -7.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.54

Hmm. I would have got "better" if some questions had not confused the hell out of me (like "Making peace with the establishment is an important aspect of maturity." or ambiguoüs questions, or plain proverbs with no reflection at all).
Plus, Google spits out a lot of non-sense when I try to translate to French.

American standards do not fit with French Standards too. For exemple, Leftism/Rightism, for us, is judged more on a Social matter than on a Economic matter.

Anyways, I guess I'm a mix of socialism, anarchism and communism. For me, the government should provide economic, social and cultural support to the people with less money (i hate to say "poor"). There should be FREE social security, a great welfare system, a minimum salary for everyone, help for families (not rich ones, mind you), public TV, radio channels, subventions to national films, theatres, etc...
Hopefully in France, there already is, but not enough for my taste (and it gets worse with Sarkozy).

Pluralism is a must. Only 2 candidates, coming from 2 parties, would be unbearable. I really prefer our political system, with 10+ candidates to presidence, not the need to be in a party to compete, etc.

Laïcity too. Religions =!= Government.
I'm an Atheïst myself (even if I sometimes shout to God(s)). I respect people that have a religion. I don't hold Catholiscism in my heart, okay, but it's because I've seen too many Catholics that were complete idiots, like the pope himself (no offense to catholics, of course, I don't want to start a flame war).

I'm going to go with the (old and poorly translated) France's slogan: Freedom, Egality and Fraternity (FTW!).

PS: I hate it when people confuse Communism and Stalinism. COMMUNISM =!= STALINISM (you know, Lenin was great!).

That's the problem at my school.  There was this whole blurb, like five pages in the history book about how evil Stalin was, and how Communism is anti-God, anti-Capitalism, anti-Fun, anti-Jews, anti-Workers, anti-Everything They Could add a prefix too, and now I'm the only person who realizes it doesn't have to be that way.

That's right. I support the free market. Look upon me, and despair.

I could write an essay expounding my views, but that wouldn't do anything else than force me to write several follow-up essays to defend my evil viewpoints and my obvious hatred of the proletariats, and honestly, I've written the same thing about fifteen different times in fifteen different places, and it never results in anything but a big internet argument.

So, bleh. >:I

Agh. I took it again and I swung even harder towards that lovely purple corner.

Economic Left/Right: 4.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.38

I like this test, although I do wonder how accurate it really is. I'd like some kind of explanation for the need of some of the questions.
