Seriously?
« on: July 20, 2008, 12:59:48 pm »

I have just encountered... a SKELETAL giant.

It did not end well for me. Is this feature new or has it been in for ages? Toady has a mean mind to think that up.

That's nothing, I had a world with about 8 or 9 skeletal dragons and 4-5 zombie dragons.

Ow.

I think it's a new feature.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

I think I had three zombie black dragons harrass a town at once, in history. Surprisingly, only one of them survived...

Zombie semimegabeasts and megabeasts are not that bad in my experience of having fought a zombie dragon and zombie giant; being a zombie makes them slow and easy to damage.
Never seen a skeletal one, so I couldn't say about those.

Zombies and skeletons aren't new.  They were removed (creation-wise) from 38 for certain reasons I can't remember but have been there for several versions.
However, IIRC this is the first time undead megabeasts could happen.

I have been meaning to ask this for a while now, but what does IIRC mean?

As I understood, Skeleton and Zombie versions of creatures are modifications to original creatures. Anything with flesh can be a zombie and anything with bones can be a skeleton. Though not every creature has had a zombie and skeleton version in every version of the game, it was intended for this to be possible and should not be a surprise when a miasma breathing dracolich arrives to eat your artifacts.
