Speaking of zombie games, I recommend downloading this.  It's a fun little arcadey survival game which was designed as part of a 'make a game in the style of a cheesy B-Movie' competition- barricade yourself in your cottage and survive the tide of Zombies as long as possible.  Also, the intro is so hilariously, deliberately bad it's awesome.

Ladies and goons, I give you Cottage of DOOM

XOMG I got that from PCGamer (UK) a few months ago, what a brilliant indie game

Rather than having them directly force you to mine adamantine, I would suggest that they give you strange moods that require adamantine. "Dig out the adamantine or Urist here goes insane and dies" is suitably vicious.

(It occurs to me that you can probably get "Lovecraft" as the random name of your fortress. That's when you know you're screwed.)

I came up with an even better survival plan: Hide in a nuclear power plant. Extremely high security, always electricity and most likely water as wel, 99% of the population shuns them especialy after an event likely caused by one of them so no zerg of possibly infected people and among the first places that would be recaptured by the government. All you need to do is keep the staff alive and fed enough which is alot easier when you have near unlimited resources.

Near unlimited food at a NPP? Right...

And what if the military blocks it off?

1) Weapon: AA-12 Automatic Shotgun
2) Food: Mostly honey because it can't expire, some rations
3) Water: Bottled or gallons
4) Movement: Motorcycle, use AA-12 to clear paths through zombies.
5) Base: 2-story home in the country, more places to store things, easier to protect, see zombies coming

Automatic shotguns are hard to operate and even more hard to find.

Live on honey? Right...

What about fuel for the motorcycle? How will you carry that? How will you carry all the stuff you need actually?

Since when does honey don't expire?  ???

And if you're worried about food expiring, shouldn't you be concerned of your water expiring as well?

Ancient Egypt, that's when.  Allegedly, some honey unearthed from the tombs of the Pharohs was still edible.

Fully crewed with 6000 non-zombies of course... It also has 200 nuclear bombs ready for dropping on the zombies.

I don't know about you, but in the tropics, honey expires relatively fast. In fact, it turns into alcohol (I believe you call it mead). I guess it would work if there's a zombie outbreak in Canada.

Atleast over here all nuclear power plants have the capability to pump up water directly from an aquifier in order to make them less reliant on the normal water supply in event of a shortage(pumping station related malfunctions are embarrasingly common here) and during the post 9-11 paranoia, food stores were added incase the facility had to go into lockdown because of terrorist threat for extended periods. And they have more then enough open fields up top to facilitate the construction of an emergency farm.

And the military blocking off the entire plant? How will you adapt to that?

All I need I can carry with me in a backpack, and I can always jack off a gas station or siphon out of some abandoned cars.

As for the 'hard to operate' and 'hard to find' parts, I can buy one and the gun actually absorbs almost all of the recoil making it very easy to shoot. Plus you can sit it in a swamp for 20 years, turn it upside down, and still fire it perfectly fine.

As for the part about honey expiring in the tropic, I live in California. I just heard that honey is the only food that doesn't expire.

I think all of you are deluded. When the zombies come, the best thing is to join my suicide cult and infect yourself. It's the best way out. You'll die with other people, calmly, instead of screaming and crying and getting ripped apart by zombies.

It'll be awesome, I promise. We'll have Kool Aid.
