"So, today, I saw my first "Demon Drunk"."

Is this in the new version, or in general? Because I have seen them in the current version.

I suppose that there should be some sort of hereditary family name thing.
As I see it the options are thus:
Matriarchal heredity
Patriarchal heredity
Combining one element from the mother and another element from the father, in the order customarily used by the civilisation.

I do hope there will be family names, but there really needs to be some initial period in worldgen where things are in flux and surnames names are generated for each individual based on circumstances -- random (Vesselmurdered), professional (Smith), due to notable events (Koboldfoe), due to relationships (Johnson), or taking the name of items, colors, etc. Random is easiest, but imagine how cool it would be to investigate the history of common family names and geneology and find some original meaning.

Just a hope. But maybe Toady only has a couple of bugs left and is trying to push through for a release today? Would explain the lack of update so far.

Hello there!
Well, I'm quite new to Dwarf Fortress but... I'm Lovin' it!

I'm lucky, I started playing with a big update nearby! :P

But I have one small suggestion:
Make each graphic for the game unique, even if they are identical!
For example, the human sprite is a U, but the same sprite is used to write stuff, then any attempt to change the human sprite is going to be a mess, because the text is going to have little human sprites everywhere! But if you make a sprite for each object, then we can change the sprites without problems! :P
Oh, and another suggestion, make a "EZ SPRITEZ SWAPPING" utility inside the game!

Well, that's it, I guess :X

Edit: the development page is updated!

Keep in mind the human sprite also has a certain colour to it, which exempts it from showing up in words. Or... something like that. The Mayday tileset doesn't seem to have this issue at all.

Hey, I know some tilesets with such problems! Well, I guess the Human sprite is alright, but there is more creatures and items that uses the same sprites!

Actually, you can make graphics for specific creatures if you want. You don't actually edit the tileset to do it, though. See here for more information.

Oh yes, I forgot about the "graphics tilesets" thingy, but you still cannot change non-creature stuff! It's kind of weird to have "good" creature sprites mixed with ASCII scenario. :O

Mayday's tileset also has graphics for items and just about everything in the game. Some stuff stayed the same, but for the most part, most stuff has graphics, or at least looks different.

Honestly I find that tileset ugly and it ruins the look of the game. To the point that I won't even look at maps on the archive if they use it.

I personally love the tileset. It gives everything a image, which is all I need for graphics. Symbols just lead me off too think about it, as in, what would it look like. While, with a picture, it's decided, and that's that. It allows me to see it for what the picture is, so I don't have too worry myself over what it could look like.

Just my opinion.

I like ASCII because once, just once, two engravings spelled out "DS"
