Finally, kobold refugees are now capable of digging out new caves, and they'll now flee before defending their sites to the last kobold. They are starting to come into their own as a pest species.

Armok will be overjoyed.

I guess that it's starting to look like I'll never get my in-volcano obsidian tower fortress complete. Not that I'll mind getting a new version.
...hmm, I like the wild mountain dwarves living in the wilderness.

Not quite pests yet.
They would indeed be pests if:
1. Dug caves to get into the back-door and at your stockpiles.
2. Then sent caravans to your swiss-cheese fortress trying to sell your stuff back to you.
3. If you kill or seize goods from the caravan, they then give your stolen stuff to dragons.
4. The dragons come to your fortress thinking there is more loot where their free loot originally came from.
5. You actually have no goods at all in your fortress to bribe to dragons with, because the kobolds stole it all.
6. You can't defend your fortress from the dragon because you don't have any armor, weapons, or ammunition either. Why? Because the kobolds also pickpocket items off of your dwarves.
7. Naked dwarves wrestling multiple dragons quickly produces "fun".

By the way, if my sarcastic comment on demonic kobolds is implemented, I will start embarking to caves simply so I can have my dwarves strangle the Kobolds with their bare hands.
Or, I could play adventure mode and then do that... but then I would have to do all the garroting myself, instead of delegating the task to Urist McMinion,

Are kobold caves built on one shot or do they get expanded thru time as the kobold population rises?

One dwarf, Cog Bridgedsmith, and nine children, none of them belonging to Cog, escaped into the mountains. Cog became the leader of the dwarves and died 50 years later, and by then, the children had grown up and given rise to a new population of dwarves. However, as there were no pre-existing dwarven sites to settle in, they just roamed the mountains. For a thousand years.

Wow, just wow. I'm getting visions of a rag tag group of scruffy Dwarves just wandering the wastes of an empty landscape cleared by war.

Yeah, the first thing I thought of was the Exodus in the Bible, with Moses leading the Israelites around the Sinai desert for 40 yrs.

Eventually the dwarves could found a new culture, and wage war on those that ousted them.

Seems like it could be fodder for some awesome legends, even if it takes them a long time to make a new fortress.

The first thing I thought of was Red Dawn, with Patrick Swayze leading the high schoolers around the mountains of Colorado for many years fighting the Soviet forces.

Red Dawn is a movie where the USSR invades the US, and the only people that get away are some tennagers, led by patrick swayze.

Needless to say, Shoulderpads and poor Russian accents were involved.

Bbut yeah, i instantly thought of the isrealites.

Given that the code for megabeast cults is in there, would there be the possibility for groups or child refugees with one adult, as per Cog and his troupe, to develop some sort of messiahnic cult based around the adult survivor?

Also, really looking forward to trying out some of the more arid regions with refilling murky pools.  Finally broken toe != death

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.

Only creatures with the [Power] Tag can ever form religions based around them

So far that only makes Megabeasts, Demons, and Mod creatures

So it wouldn't happen.

# made preexisting murky pools refill during rains

Such a small tweak with such great end effect! Finally, we will be able to dig rain collection networks and survive in barren areas off of our Moisture Farms.

# listed all hist fig relationships to other hist figs/entities/sites explicitly in legends screen

Does this mean family trees?

And I don't know about you, but I've never been more disappointed that a group of children weren't attacked by a dragon.
