These devices work like a charm. One of my buddies had an overheating laptop that gave him burns. I don't know if the laptop itself got any cooler, but at least he didn't have a !!lap!! any more.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

I'd say next release or two can live without editor. =/

DF don't have too much media to have need in SDL. And linux users can install XP on same machine for any gaming needs.

Well, today is the last day on the venerable UBB boards. starting tomorrow, a long a perilous journey awaits our long discussions. I'll almost miss this fourm... but then I think of all the double-triple-quintuple posts and I reconsider.

Good by, UBB! Hello, brave new software!

(yes, I do that every time I upgrade.)

Hey, you're right, new forum tomorrow...

Posters, lurkers, and trolls of the Dwarf Fortress Forums!

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have
striven these many days. The eyes of the internets are upon you. The
suggestions and bug-reports of dwarf-loving users everywhere march with you.
In company with our brave spammers and Gaiafags on
other Forums, you will bring about the destruction of the UBB Quote
machine, the elimination of obsolete software over the oppressed dwarves of
The Portentous Planet, and security for ourselves in a free forum.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well
equipped and battle hardened. He will fight trollishly.

But this is the year 2008! Much has happened since the UBB triumphs of
2006-07. The Bay12Gamers have inflicted upon UBB Epic Threads,
in open discussion, internet person-to-internet person. Our flamewar has seriously reduced their strength in political issues and their capacity to create temporal rifts on the Various Nonsense Section. Our FotF threads have given us an overwhelming superiority in lolcats and an heroes of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained internet people.

The barrel has rolled! The internet people of the world are marching together to
SMF!

I have full confidence in your skills and devotion to lol and win in
flame-war. We will accept nothing less than full epic!

Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Armok upon this great
and noble undertaking.

QFT, No more blockiness! Well, according to Toady there's still blockiness left but it's a vast improvement over the previous versions!

This change alone makes me anticipate the new release like nothing before.

It's a tilebased game.  Any non-blocky stuff is just faking it.

Meh.

I like the new tags in the raws, but are these actually going to be acted upon?  For example, if I start a human, and punch someone without killing them, will I be given a serious punishment, or will I be attacked on site by guards'n'such using lethal force?

More importantly, if you mod the human reaction to murder to nothing, does everyone ignore you for it?

What qualifies as serious punishment?  Is it even possible to be imprisoned in adventurer mode?  If something is unthinkable, does that mean it won't happen during tantrums?  If it's a personal matter, does the justice system even care?
