Mind you that as a pun it is said as a joke.

So saying that the next release of Dwarf Fortress is "Beyond Quality" KINDA says both meanings and I am curious to how #2 comes into this.</STRONG>

Edit: could you please post a screeny of an almost completely frozen world?

No... That is just too good to be true. I did not belive that there was a map editor. I thought it was a cruel, cruel joke.
But no. This seems to be absolutely real.
AND IT'S RIGHT AFTER I GOT A JOB!
Now am I going to have to choose between QA work and DF work?
Ah, well, at least now I can afford to pay the actual value of DF. Well, that's an overstatement, a down payment on DF what would cost would still be several times what I have, but I can come a little closer, anyway.

Dahghlarglrelargleargle I can't wait!

P.S.: I doubt that Toady One would need to make a gui for map editing- I am very sure that some fan would make something to do that in a few minutes- if they haven't started already.

OOHHHHH This is going to be a long week.

I can't remember how many hours of my childhood I lost to making cool-looking custom worlds in Civ2's map editor.

How did you get a map-painter to work anyway Toady?

On the subject of 300 references, my friends and I went to see Beowulf just so we could shout, "THIS! IS! OVERUSED!" at the appropriate point.  Then we walked out 'cause the movie sucked.

Meh, decided to make a minimap of the oceanless waste.  Because I could.

Each pixel is a tile.  Each tile type *should* have a distinct color.

I boosted the lightness and saturation on that bad boy so it's actually legible.

Just when I think the next release couldn't get any better, it does.  Boy howdy does it ever.  I mean, this is the stuff of dreams.

The following joke never gets old:

Dwarf Fortress"           Value: 0$
This is a ASCII game of the highest quality. It is rendered with graphics of ASCII. It is encircled with bands of awesome and adorned with coolness. On the item is an engraving of a dwarf and a goblin in ASCII. The dwarf is killing the goblin. All coding is of the highest quality.

If not, getting rid of aquifers is a pretty simple mod job. All thats required is some selective deletion.
