Alright, this is my first succession game, and my first fort built on a road/bridge. I'm hoping to build the fortress around the bridge, with the road, brook, and bridge inside the fort's walls. (When we get to it) I do not know if magma is present, but i doubt that. Each person who plays the game can choose a dwarf to be named after. I'll write in the form of a leader's log.

Here are the dwarfs:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Here are the supplies we are bringing:

And the professions of the dwarves:

Kogsak-Proficient miner/mason

Adil-proficient building designer/mechanic
Sigun-skilled fisher dwarf/competent fish dissector and cleaner
Udib- Proficient brewer/cook
Rimtar-proficient grower/herbalist (He also likes admantine, so he's not ever going to be a noble)

List of players:

2.Aadavark
3.Jakeypoo
4.Kazindir
5.vagel7
6.keldor
7.scurga

Expedition Leader's log, 21st Granite, 1051

We finally made it into this place. The wagon ride was not as bad as I thought it would be, and neither is this place. The scouts told us that this place was haunted, but what do we see when we step out of the wagon?

2 groundhogs scampering around. They weren't even undead! The only other things in site were a bunch of bright red blood gnats. I guess that could be scary if you're an elf. Anyways, we we got here, we noticed an obvious design flaw in the bridge. It only connected to one side. We began moving inside, digging out a reasonably large cave into a small cliffside. I also instructed the others to cut down trees, gather plants, and fish.

Expedition Leader's log, 23rd Granite, 1051

I've decided to patch up the gap in the bridge using siltstone we found while digging out our cave. It looks nice with the obviously human bridge. Also, I saw a werewolf today. The thing is insanely fast, and looks strong also. So much for this place not being haunted. I'm getting everything inside and constructing doors. This looks bad, and I must be cautious. As of now it's just roaming around, but I'm sure it's scheming of something.

Expedition Leader's log, 21st Slate, 1051

I'm in the process of moving everything inside. I've also suspended the repairs to that inferior human bridge. If we survive long enough, I would like to build a superior dwarven bridge of stone.

Expedition Leader's log, 24th Slate, 1051

I think the werewolf left the immediate area, which is good, and a bunch of deer have been spotted grazing in the jungles. I still need to put up a defense and dig out quarters for my friends and acquaintances. Sleeping on siltstone is not much fun, but the others seem to ignore the need for workshops, and are taking a long time to get to their jobs. Lazy bastards are all doing easy jobs, hauling the supplies we brought with us.

Expedition Leader's log, 4th Felsite

We built the doors to our mighty fortress! Werewolves, groundhogs, and deer alike will bow at the feet of their dwarven masters! Hooray! In other news, a bunch of bugs started smelling badly in the main cavern, so I told the dwarves to throw it out near the pond. That'l be where we throw our trash from now on.

Expedition Leader's log, 20th Felsite

Not much is happening. We got farms planted.. growing both quarry bushes, plump helmets (Which I love. It goes very well with dwarven wine, which is made with it.

Expedition Leader's log, 24th Felsite

We are beset by foul beasts! Harpies have attacked poor Sigun! And they followed him all the way to the gates! I have ordered everybody to stay inside, but I don't know how long we can last with those winged monsters outside. Hopefully, like the werewolf, they will leave. Until then, we can focus more on things that actually matter, like building the fortress, instead of hauling stuff from the wagon. Nevermind, as I was writing, they left. I guess the beasts here are intimidated by our mighty walls.

Ok you guys are in. Do either of you want to name a dwarf after yourself?

Expedition Leader's log, 7th Hematite

I am writing this in my bed. My arm is almost unrecognizable. I'm in no shape to drink alcohol, and we don't have a well. Things are looking grim for me. But things are far grimmer for my friend Rimtar. He has been slain by the winged menace. They fell upon us. Coming out of nowhere. I killed one as it swooped down with my pick, but the other killed poor Rimtar. We have yet to have constructed a coffin. The killer of Rimtar, named Buketimik, chased me, after mangling my arm, across these haunted plains. I managed to kill it, but not before it wounded me gravely. My arm is unrecognizable, my chest only looks slightly better, and  my back hurts badly. My friends tell me that I am slipping in and out of consciousness.

Expedition Leader's log, 20th Hematite

I was unconscious for the past 13 days. I am still in great pain, and it takes strength to write this. Not much has happened, but the harpies are still flying around the plains. A  kobold thief was spotted today, outside by a cat, which it attacked. In mere seconds after it's discovery, a viscous flock of harpies attacked the kobold, tearing him to shreds. This gives me an idea. We could use the harpies against our enemies, taming them and bending them to our will! But first, we have to survive.

(OOC) Things wouldn't be so bad had the leader not decided to fall asleep seconds before getting to saftey in the fortress.(OOC)

Expedition Leader's log, 27th Galena

The past months have been troubling, or so I heard. Orges roamed dangerously close to the fortress, and everybody had to keep inside. I had to go without water for a long time, but I survived. The fortress is struggling, but surviving. We finally built a moat, and are working on a bridge. But we still need to consider the threat of harpies, which are also drawing near.

Expedition Leader's log, 5th Limestone

The harpies have returned, not much activity from them.

Expedition Leader's log, 10th Limestone

The harpies attacked. No dwarves were hurt, thank Ral, but they managed to kill a cat.

Expedition Leader's log, 27th Limestone

Trader's have arrived. We don't have much to give them, nor do we have a trade depot. I hope we can get that built in time to buy some rope for the well. There also hasn't been much monster sightings, although the groundhog horde is roaming about on the other side of the river. I'm thinking of tunneling under the river and digging another base, but first we need to set up a defense against the beasts.

Some moron who came with the traders keeps trying to talk to me. Can't he see my arm? It pains me just to write, and I have no time to talk to that moron. We don't need his help yet.

Expedition Leader's log, 5th Moonstone

Praise be to Ral Limulotil! The wounds on my chest have fully recovered! Huzzah! If I wasn't drifting in and out of consciousness, I would throw a party! That gives me an idea. We need to build a dining room. I want to dig deeper so we can engrave the whole thing. In other news, we completed the depot, and are building a huge bridge over a pit to block access to all others but us.

Expedition Leader's log, 11th Moonstone

Things are getting better. We have not seen monsters since autumn, and we have a nice moat to keep those beasts out. In fact, the forests to the east seem to be growing over these dark hills, cleansing the land of it's evil. The moat is relatively large, and it has three bridges leading into the wild, which we can retract. The moat, however, does not keep out harpies, but we are generally safe from the ogres, which deal much more damage. One punch for them, and you're nothing but a slab of dwarf meat.

Expedition Leader's log, 25th Moonstone

The land is not entirely cleansed. More ogres were spotted today, on the other side of the river. They will need to cross the bridge if they plan to attack us, and I'm making sure that they can't do that. I asked Adil if she would  set up traps using those spikes of wood  črith made along the bridge. She's a nice dwarf. She gave me some stew the other day, which was splendid. Cat and plump helmet stew is delicious!

Expedition Leader's log, 7th Opal

The water is starting to freeze. Hopefully, the water I am drinking does not, as we have no way to melt the ice. This also creates another problem; The ogres can walk right past our bridges. I think I'm going to also build walls around it, and if possible, a roof. I also noticed that the road is completely faded. I can't even tell it was there now. Grass and shrubs just grew over the dirt. I think that in many years it should be replaced by a superior dwarven paved road.

Expedition Leader's log, 3rd Obsidian

The water thawed completely. I also started building the wall I described in my last entry, which will use up much of our siltstone. I was hoping for Dodok Sebsur to send us some fresh meat, but no immigrants have been sighted all year. I have also decided to let one of the others to temporarily take the role of leader, because I realized that I would be bedridden for at least another year, and it's hard to make great decisions when you're sleeping or unconscious half of the time.

Expedition Leader's log, 12th Obsidian

More ogres have been spotted. They are walking around east of our position. The moat is dug and as I write the bridges are being connected to a lever. I doubt they will do us much harm this time!

Expedition Leader's log, 28th Obsidian

This will be my last log as leader, at least for some time. Deciding who will lead the fortress for the next year has been a hard choice. I am swaying towards Miss Adil Nīlesdeduk, but that is partially due to the fact that she is a good friend, and because of all the she-dwarves here, she is by far the most beautiful. But on the other hand, she is disorganized, and is too serious in her dealings with others, which are traits that I see as a weakness in leadership. Udib is also a good candidate, as he shows good display of leadership, as well as źrith, but she is a pessimist, and could bring down the mood of the fortress.

Expedition Leader's log, 1st Granite

Today I retire as the overseer of this outpost. The new leader is:[Pick the dwarf, Aadavark]

If Aardvark does not respond within the next three days, it will be Keldors turn. I also expect each player to write a log of what happens.

Had some problems with lightning. Chack the saltmine tread. But I should be able to start it by tommorow when the weather has bettered. (Still having some dangerously black clouds and strong wind. Summer? I do not know what you are talking about  ::)

Alright, its good to hear that you can still do it. I hope others will take intrest in this, once the fort gets off its feet. I'm hoping to make some huge constructions and rebuild the road, which has been overgrown with grass.

Man I had nothing to do today so here is the full year.

The Log of Affy

1st Granite
Kel ordered me to his bed today. He said he wasn't sure if he could continue to manage the fort anymore, and that I had to take over.
Now I am the leader of this haunted area. I hope we get some migrants soon.

2nd Granite
The first thing we need to do is to find a way to defend ourselves. I hav ordered the construction of crossbows and bolts to be made so that we all can equip ourselves with weapons shall it be neccesary.
I have also started to search for metal and coal. the digging will be done so that the are should be usable after I have searched through it.

13th Granite
The elves arrived today. I loked over their items, but found nothing worth buying. Hopefully they will leave soon.

5th Slate
Migrants arrived today, what joy. They are to start working at once.

7th Felsite
I am starting to wonder if there are anything usefull for military purposes in the area where I am digging. The only things I have found is bauxite and rubies. Ah well the crossbows should be finnished soon, and with that there shall come a small millitia.

11th Felsite
Our clothier has been possesed by something and is muttering something about clothes. To bad we don't have it.

27th Felsite
Oh no. This place must be cursed. Kel went berserk today. He started to lash out at unsuspecting dwarves. Our new militiahad to kill him in the end, but not without any wounded.
I am going to make a tomb for Kel, our first leader.

23rd Hematite
I have now been chosen as the new leader of this hole. The death of Kel still haunts me. I just hope that I do not end up like him.

24th Hematite
The clothier just went berserk. What is wrong with his place? The millitia has been sent to take care of this problem.

25th Hematite
Just before the militia got him the clothier managed to kill Inod, our animal disector. I hope this is the last action we get this year, to many deaths in a to short time is bad for the morale.

14th Malacithe
Another group of imigrants arrived today.

5th Galena
Nothing much is happening. I've ordered the Construction of walls so that our militia can have the highest vantagepoint if we have to fight outside enemies. It will probably not be finished this year, but atleast it is a start.

15th Galena
Today one of our recruits died from his wounds. Another great loss for us. our graveyard is increasing in size each day. soon we will have to build another one.

1st Limestone
Autumn has come and our clothes production is soon underway. The butcher shop is also comming along, and soon we will have some leather armour and meat. Thank the gods, if I have to eat this vgan food much longer I don't know what I will do.

8th Limestone
Oh no. On of our fisherdwarves has been taken by some sort of mood. I hope we won't have a repeat performance. Ehm, well that went smooth. He just got a piece of stone and started working, it looks like this will be ok.

13th Limestone
It seems that our fisherdwarf has become a great stonecrafter when he made the bauxite idol "Memadlūk."
Now we shall get some tradegoods. I can not wait 'till the caravans arrive.

15th Limestone
Here te traders come. Dodok has already started to create small trinkets so hopefully we can get much needed goods.

11th Sandstone
We have finnished trading and gotten all that we wanted, some alcohol, two bins of leather, lots of meat, and a couple of steel weapons. Now we should get those leather armors done.

25th Sandstone
Another wave of imigrants? Don't they know this place is dangerous?

10th Timber
I am making the excavation area into a sleeping area for us. There should be enough room for 120 rooms there which should be enough for the moment.

12th Moonstone
One of our recruits has just withdrewn from society. Hopefully we will get another fantastic artifact and not a raving lunatic.

15th Moonstone
A werewolf tried to attack our fortress today, but was killed by our millitia who was standing guard outside. This is a great feat indeed and shows us just how much a small group of recruits can do to a defence.

5th Opal
Everyone has been moved to the new sleeping area now. The old one can be used for whatever.

21st Opal
I am hereby Joining the militia as its Sheriff I shall now be known as Captain Affy.
I am doing this so that I can have a more important role in how the millitia is going to expand, and I feel that by leaving the post as leader I might not end up as Kel. I will use the rest of this year to chose a new leader for this fortress.

1st Obsidian
Another one has been struck by this accursed place. It was the former millitia member. He is now in a deep depression. Hopefully he will not end his life butovercome it.

5th Obsidian
I had my first kill today, an ogre. It tried to enter the fortress as the rest of the militia went for some well deserved food and drink. Luckily one of the militia saw him and held him back untill I could come and help him. With one swing of my axe I cut of the ogres arm and it fell to the ground where I severed his lower body from the rest and it died.

15th Obsidian
Another ogre was running around creating trouble for our cats. Since they were pets of our population I chose to take care of this problem, and went out into the woods where I killed it. It feels good to be able to help ridding our land of these creatures, and all I got was a bruied nose and leg. If it is this easy I will have no troubles defending the fortress.

22nd Obsidian
It is time for me to choose the next leader of our fortress, it will be anonuced the first of Granite then I will step down from my position as leader so that I can fully concentrate on being the leader of the militia.

Captain Affy.
