[39c] Door Colours Inverted
« on: July 17, 2008, 08:18:00 pm »

I'm not sure if this counts as a bug, or a feature, or what... But while I was building my new 39c fort I noticed that the doors have their colours reversed from the last versions. Now the door frames take the colour of the stone, and the doors themselves seem to all be grey. I've only had slate and orthoclase doors so far. It was the orthoclase one that threw me since I'm used to them being bright yellow.

I'm not sure exactly what anyone truly thinks of my 2 cents, but here it is anyway.

I like the new colors.  Olivine and microcline doors look simply amazing with most of the color taking up most of the tile.  There still seem to be some problems with certain doors like Andesite.  I'm assuming that this is because it won't set the "color" and the "background color" of a piece of "text" to be the same thing, so it sets the background to be black.  Much like how granite doors were in 38c.

My understanding is that you changed it so that wouldn't happen anymore?  But it seems that it still does.  :P

Anyway, I'd like to see all of the doors have the "cross" be a basic gray color, and the main portion of the door be the stone's color, like it mostly is right now. ^_^

This is probably the goal anyway, but clarification is often handy. >.>

As long as the doors match up with blocks for those of us who construct that way.  Orthoclase blocks are still bright yellow.

It was startling for me since I use one of those graphics packs that swap some characters for pictures, and the door actually looks like a door. Maybe it looks better in the standard graphics setup now?

I've seen this with cobaltite as well. I actually like it, as it was really weird to have, say, an orthoclase door that was grey with 2 yellow lines in it...

Well, the only problem I have is I can barely see my obsidian doors, they are black with white crosses in the middle and they blend in with the normal black DF background (and the undug stone around my place).

Yeah, this is how Granite doors were before.  Now Gabbro, Andesite, and apparently Obsidian are.  I think it's intended behavior, considering all of these 3 stones are reeeally dark.
