Well, it looks just like the comic. I think they're gonna stick to the script in other ways too. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Attention, I'm going to say something that some people violently disagree with:  ;)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
but I don't know if that would be good with Watchmen. On the other hand making an exact replica of the comic would be safe, and good for people that don't know it beforehand. Then there's always the option of making an action movie out of it and thus ruining it completely (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, anyone? or 300, so I've heard.).

So I'm wondering are they gonna go the V for Vendetta way, the LXG way or the Sin City way. I would definitely go see the first and third ones.

EDIT: How the hell are they going to handle the Tales of the Black Freighter? Because of this I will see this movie even if they actionize it. Unless they remove it altogether.

Tales of the Black Freighter isn't in the main feature, but it will be animated and put on the DVD.

And from what I've read of the script, it manages to stick with the majority of the graphic novel, but it's a bit more action-y.

And yeah, I wet myself a little watching the trailer. Was geeked out beyond measure  :D

Is it a movie about copyright claims?

I want a t-shirt that says "I trust Zack Snyder" on the front and the stained smiley logo on the back.  I haven't seen that preview yet, but I hear that I'm going to at midnight tonight.  Just an hour and a half to go.

With regards to LASD's spoilered text, I'm fine with it.  There's some elements in the comic that won't necessarily fit on the big screen, especially with time constraints.  I'm thinking of the minor characters that were only peripherally-related to the main story.  If there's no Black Freighter in the movie, do we really need the newsdealer and the comic-reading kid?  Stuff like that.

This is obviously something important.  What am I missing here?  And why do people always pick such absurd outfits when adding "super" to the beginning of their job description?

To answer your question, because they're perverts, racists, or fascists.  Seriously.  Read the book.

Generally, when I'm trying to convince people I know in real life to read Watchmen, if it's in real life, I say, "Go buy a copy, right now.  If you read it and then feel that you didn't get your money's worth from just one reading (and you can easily read it a dozen times and see something new each time), I will personally buy your copy off of you for five bucks more than what you paid for it.  You can even lie and say you didn't like it just to rip me off, but after you read it, you won't."  I have never had anybody take me up on this offer, and I've had six people buy it because of this.

On the Internet, I generally lie to people and tell them that Time Magazine voted Watchmen to be "a greater contribution to Western literature than Great Expectations or Moby Dick", which isn't accurate, because those weren't in the running for the Time list.  However, nobody's ever called me out on it, because even if it's a lie, it's still true.

I don't even know what I'm trying to say.  Wait, yes I do, go read Watchmen.  Hell, go [censored] if you have to, I believe that you'll want to buy it after you read it the first time.  I have never known anybody with a double-digit mental age that didn't love it.

Yeah, I was a bit sceptical of read it at first. And about 4 or 5 pages in i feel in love with the book. I really have to read up on it again, and in response to LASD, there is some film photographs of the news stand, and i did think that that part of the comic was quite important to the storys development. It was basically a narrative running through the comic explaining what happened, in a slightly odd fasion i might add.

oh the joys, it looks very much like it did in the comic, i might even hazard the comment that it looks better than the comic in this photo.

[EDIT] Don't you think Nite owl looks a little too much like Batman? i know he's suppoesed to sort of mimic him but in the comics he kinda looked a little more ridiculose.

It's not that he looks too much like Batman, it's that he looks too much like the slick, sleek darker Batman that is seen as cool, nowadays. In the books, Nite Owl channels the vibe of a more ridiculous blue and gray Batman more akin to Adam West. I believe "channeling the vibe" is the term I used when I discussed this with you last week.  :D

REVIVE!

The new trailer is out.

Anyway, after reading the entire Watchmen series, I'm going to say this. This movie will do to Watchmen what Fallout 3 did to Fallout.

What I mean is that it'll be fun and entertaining, but it will probably follow the canon as much as the ADHD generation will permit it to. By the way... I'm pretty sure the masked adventurers didn't call themselves the "Watchmen". And the Comedian should have that horrid scar: it's a bloody symbol of his eternal grimace!

I loved the series.

I was informed by a friend that on the top of the producers list of things to do with this movie is to please Alan Moore. He hates the idea that his comic is being made into a film... so I dunno, I'm just hoping it'll be something special for once...
