Chunks/bodyparts, the purple "cloudy" thing is the "miasma" which is spread by rotting corpses/corpse parts and will annoy your dwarves. Welcome to the DF reality :).

Also I've checked the tileset and it looks fine at my home PC.
My work PC's monitor is a piece of crap.

There's a couple of errors in the text file, the Elf Druid is misspelled DRUIF and the Human Master Axeman is listed as MASTER_MASTER_AXEMAN or something of the like.

It's from Dystopian/Mike Mayday's. The error is fixed in the last dystopian graphics_example.txt which is on the wiki.
Be careful with ctrl-c -> ctrl-v =).

It is beautiful! I thought ground tiles were hard coded to be little dots too. I love this, I love you, I love this guy above me. ;D

It looks very nice, can't really make out the two dwarfs on the left, are they from the same Mayday set as the others?

They are, actually - that is to say, they're hardcoded to particular places in the font bmp, which normally has art for ` ' . etc. Now if the images in those places are replaced with something other than those symbols, you get (potentially) nicer ground but weirdness where the symbols would have been in text.

Hmm ok so I tried switching over to this from Mayday's, I like the similarities of them, but this one seems to be REALLY dark, how do I fix that?

Ok so how do you place these in? I tried a graphic pack before and screwed up so bad I needed to restart the entire program. You say copy and overwrite I take it copy your screenshots and place in example folder? Or place in a new folder...a step by step walkthrough would be REALLY nice right about now as I have been looking through the forums and anything mod based is NOT user friendly.  >:(
