[39c] Worldgen input failure
« on: July 17, 2008, 11:25:51 am »

Just generated a world with 39c, all went well, the thing finished generating, but once it got to the ... has been created. Press Enter of Space to continue. point, it froze and won't accept keyboard, or any kind of input. The FPS counter is flickering between 99 and 100, so I'm inclined to think it isn't locked up. It just refuses to respond to input.

Sometimes it locks up, but usually for not very long. Wait another minute or two and see if it gets better.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Well, I waited for ten minutes before exiting out. No luck. And it wasn't 'locked up,' really, as the FPS counter was updating and it wasn't in that hellish state of un-being the task manager calls "Not responding."

Was this on a random seed or a preset one?  Does it repeat?

Well, it was done with a random seed, and I didn't save the parameters I used, so I can't re-gen the same world, so far as I know. It worked fine the next time.

On another note, I saw some random elf city deforesting the area around it. Is that normal? Also, I noticed a human city became ruins and then was repopulated somehow. It was the first time I saw ruins, so I was all excited about visiting it.

Elven cities that are conquered by humans or dwarves and get new leaders will start to do human/dwarf things under their masters.

The ruins were probably reclaimed -- it should show up in the site history.
