Adventure Mode: Direction of event

When I get all these messages about fights going on around me, it would be nice if the message could include some idea of which direction it is: N, S, E, W, Above, Below

So, when there are fights (which I assume my character can hear) then I might be able to locate them.

And then you get spammed with directions as well....

I'd rather have:
You hear heavy fighting to the north-west!
You hear fighting to the north-west!
You hear minor fighting to the north-west!

The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.

At the very least, filter out the ones you shouldn't be able to see or hear so you don't worry about it.

RavingManiac: That is more or less what I'm talking about. Unless the subject is on-screen and visible, then tell the player in what general direction the event is coming from. It could be simple messages as in your post. There should definitely be some filtering.

In the current system, it might look like this:

Instead of:

The Crossbowman bashes The Giant in the head with her iron crossbow!

You get:

[NE] The Crossbowman bashes The Giant in the head with her iron crossbow!
