I'd have to say as they are now, the elves are chaotic neutral at best. No good-aligned creature would be so happy to slaughter other good aligned creatures.

That's the thing, with how their god supports nature and how they honestly believe they are doing the world a service, they would be classified as "Chaotic Good" in their own warped little world. Outside of that, they would be considered Chaotic Evil most likely.

I absolutely love the current take on elves. They're nature lovers that EAT YOUR FRIENDS -- a far cry from the wussy, whining nobodies that cry about everything while trying to be all diplomatic while I snicker at them and continue raping the forests.

Now they cry about the trees and snack on your entrails when you start laughing at them.

Yeah, if elves get changed back I am definitely going into the raws and breaking them again, they're just too awsome now.

Toady should just add a bit of randomization to there personalities.

So in some maps elves are nice down to earth peeps who never war dec anybody and don't eat people, while in other maps... OH GODS THERE EATING MAH BRAINS.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. I've yet to see any of my genned worlds with elven supremacy... or anything even close to it. They either get enslaved by humans, enslaved by goblins (after initiating the war), or beat each other into oblivion.

Sure, they attack with idiotic numbers, but they still lose. Maybe it's because... THEY SUCK!

Good and evil are a matter of perspective. To the elves, humans are animal murdering, tree slaughtering fiends that deserve to be punished for the atrocities they commit.

I like the change.  Turns the elves from wussy tree huggers to a more Sidhe or Fair Folk race.  Still nature lovers...just don't piss them off.

I can't wait until I get to see an elf caravan guard rush a skelk and take it down, and eat it.

Mmm. Boney.

Their morals feel inconsistent to me at the moment (they happily eat goblins, but get pissed if I make bone bolts out of one?) but I'm all for elves being more rabid and crazy, in an alien kind of way. I'd love it if the whole beastfolk alliance thing showed up in gameplay as well.

They really should be buffed, though, the way they get slaughtered in world get battles now is kinda silly. Sure, they may only have wooden weapons, but with their enormous lifespans they should all be legendary fighters, with masterful equipment. Then you'd see the true fury of nature... :)

I like the rabid/crazy Elves, and I think it gives them a much more unique personality.

What I think needs to happen is for Elves to have a better defined "territory". Are forests named? If not, they should be, and Elves should stick to it...and only it. Make them very territorial, so that if a Human/Dwarf/Goblin starts chopping away, then they invade and devour and blah blah blah. But they should rarely WANT to leave their forest.

I like this actually.  If this is combined with more aggressive goblins (or perhaps humans and dwarves who are more willing to fight goblins over child-snatching and whatnot), I think we'd have a decent compromise.

I think the eating of sapient beings by elves is actually very fitting.  Post-battle cannibalism is certainly document among many American tribes (who, most people would think, were quite "in-tune" with nature)

I don't have too much trouble with elves being cannibalistic and such but as they stand now it's too much cognitive dissonance for me. I would prefer goblins to be the the ones starting wars all the time and eating the fallen foes instead of being a parody of 18th century USA by being at the same time a race melting pot and a slavery tolerating nation and being friendly with everyone except with themselves.

Also, I know elves supposedly eat corpse just to not waste the meat but one thing is recovering the corpses from the battlefield to do something with them after the battle and the other is eating them while fighting like zombies.

By the way. Elves aren't supposed to like sex that much.
