One of the human caravan guards I had visit a couple forts ago had the last name "Murdereddead." Why the hell he went into a dangerous profession with a name like that is beyond me. That's past being a redshirt, that's like diving into a pool full of starving piranhas naked except for a bunch of bloody cow meat tied to yourself.

Kogan Mcsomething the Pillar of Boring, the best speardwarf I ever had. He was stationed in the center of my entrance hallway while a siege of 23 goblins charged him. He killed 20 before my other champion got there.

Ducimator, or Workperfect, for a legendary bonecrafter.

The Father of Fondling, a limonite idol. I don't want to know what trauma inspired that artifact. :(

Artifact names.

My first artifact: Organtin the chalk amulet.
Second: Buryshaken the Virginal Brain the carp leather bag.
Later:
Deviancemothers the sapphire table.

...and the best one of all, which I expect will never be outdone:
Shamefulconvent the native aluminum hatch cover.

I did massive fiddling with all except the first one (hence I got a sapphire table, throne and bed), but I didn't influence their names at all. Of note is that Buryshaken the Virginal Brain was at one point a carp leather hood with an image of a carp skull on it, which is arguably far more badass than a bag (but cannot contribute to room value).

Over a year has gone by since my last post, but I still maintain "Murdergrowth" is the best name for an Elf Retreat I have ever seen

I just got a weaponsmith making an artifact named The Angel of Conquerors. Too bad this is a clinical test on an old fort...

Dwarves come up with the most amusing names for artifacts.  Here's a few from my latest megaproject fort, Towerscrape.

Rhymingboiled the Angel of Jail, a Steel idol (pictures of this thing are on practically every other artifact, which is odd since it was this fort's fifth artifact; maybe because it's so valuable?)
The Innocent Partner, a green glass floodgate
The Pregnant Rider, a green glass armor stand (perhaps related to The Innocent Partner?)
Topfreckles the Man of Strikes, a Lignite amulet (obviously not safe to wear near fire)
Apexlancers the Sour Kin of Shields, a Cedar cage

I tend to give my fortresses weird names, like "Hammertime" or "Pocketmonsters".

I then name my group with a similar name, like "The Pocket of Monsters" or, on one of my forts known as Circlecircled, "The Circular Circle".

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

My latest fort is named "Sizzlecrypt." It's in a flat taiga map though... Odd.

I think I've got one called The Walled Liberation. Something must be going on there.

A personal favorite from the Legends entry in my newest world:

I guess he was too busy knitting cardigan pullovers and drinking brandy from a snifter to really get up to anything, despite his posthumous activities.

I have reason to belive that that is a fake!

It says it was struck down but it then says over 100 years later that he defended against a siege!
