is there some way to force world generation to include bottomless pits as often as magma pipes?
i would really like to have a large river ( not brook ) and chasms in the same fortress

Afraid not.  There's no way to force those to be generated more often, no.  :(
Right.  Bottomless pits are generated exactly one to a mountain tile, and it's very hard getting a major river on a mountain tile.

Greetings!

http://www.mkv25.net/dfma/map-4489-exsmoxzuzaworld-samplesite
This looks great, but no goblins?  :'(
Who will we have to torture and go to war with?

If the no goblins is a problem, you can simply gen the world with a little more or lesser civs. As long as you don't go to extremes (=cause a reject due to unplacable civs), you should still get the same physical map with different civs and different history.

Personally, I find this map really awesome. Not only are there no goblin ambushers - my liaison from the mountain homes is a goblin, so he will never die of old age :) :)

Hi folks. I'm looking to try and create a magma pipe near the ocean's edge. Would be fine if the place was extremely cold, or hot, or somewhat dangerous (might make it more fun actually). My efforts with the generator have been all fail :(

Oh, I'm using Mike Mayday's download (cat and stone mods IIRC).

This thread seems dead, but I have been using it to create a recipe for world design.  I came up with a recipe that I really like, and have been using it to generate worlds.

Last night I managed to create a Medium world with 40d9 that has 2 fantastic spots.  If anyone is still interested in this sort of stuff then I will post the recipe.

Spot one (4x4)
cold
Sand
Magma Pipe (not visible on surface)
Flux Stone
Underground river
Other Features (I assume HSF)
Trees
Chasm (dried river bed style with critters)
Extremely savage Neutral area with lots of critters (can be redesigned to turn this from neutral to Evil with a little effort)
Elves/Dwarves/Goblins/Humans/Orcs (if you mod Orcs)
around 25 z-levels that can be mined

This area is right next to a brook, so if you make it a 5x4 you can add a brook

Spot two (4x4)
Magma Pipe (not visible on surface)
Flux Stone
Underground river
Other Features (I assume HSF)
Trees
2 Chasm (giant round pits with critters)
Extremely savage Neutral area with lots of critters including a Gremlin (can be redesigned to turn this from neutral to Evil with a little effort)
Elves/Dwarves/Goblins/Humans/Orcs (if you mod Orcs)
32 z-levels that can be mined

This area is right next to a brook, so if you make it a 5x4 you can add a brook and sand

One of these sites also has an underground pool, but I am not sure which one.

I am using the 2nd spot as a 6x6 so I have literally everything I could use.  I wanted to test the FPS with 40d9 on my extremely top end system, so I went with a large size.  I started with 3 or 4 pages of creatures.

Here is the seed info:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

thanks.

(Edit: I forgot to mention Other Features, I am assuming HSF as I believe that is what Other Features normally refers to on the site finder)
(Edit2: I added the seed/recipe information

That sounds great but can you actually give the location of those spots? I'm having trouble finding them.

Sorry, I just saw your reply.  I have been playing and haven't been paying much attention to the forum.

Just do a search for 4x4 for:

Flux
Other Features
Chasm
Magma Pipe
Underground River

That should get you there.

The spots are in the lower right side.

I will try to give something more specific later this weekend.

Savage means savage animals ( Has giants, and angry animals ) , Neutral means average animals ( bears, raccons, monkeys, etc ) .

Ok, I think I know what you mean. Any mods? (Cat fix + all economic stone will be standard)

I can't reproduce my own world.

It is really weird.  I am playing in it, but if I try to reproduce it I get everything exactly the same except for the Flux is replaced by a different stone.

It is really weird.

I must have changed something after I generated it the first time.  For the life of me I can't figure it out.

I did make some small changes to the RAWs but nothing that should make a difference... in any event that seed information I gave will not have the Flux.

I can offer no explanation.

Ah, I figured it out.

The problem was the All Economic Stone mod.  That mod changes the stones.

It is very strange.  I made the map without this mod and it is a great map, but if I re-make it with the All Economic Stone mod then all of the Flux is changed to non-Flux stone.

In truth their is no reason for the All Economic Stone mod with this map, as there is so much Obsidian that I don't care about the other stone.

So anyway, if you want to generate the world that I gave then you need to either

1) use the All Economic Stone mod = no flux stone

2) don't use the All Economic Stone mod = lots of flux

Anyway, that solves my problem as I was able to re-generate it and this time I started at War with the Goblins so that is cool for me.

Anyone know if it's possible with enough worldgen tweaking to get evil zones with at least, say, Sparse or more trees? And preferably no aquifer cus I haven't learned how to deal with them yet...yeah, I'm picky...

I started up using one of the worldgen recipes here....misread the word 'Scarce' thinking it was 'Sparse' and didnt take any logs besides my wagon....so, until a wagon comes or something, i'm going to have a maximum of two beds :X probably abandon this one later...and hoping i can find what i'm looking for somehow!
