DF 0.28.40d16

found some interesting location here: it has magma pipe, river, underground river, bottomless pit, HFS, aquifer, some trees, sand, obsidian and flux, everything in Terrifying biome, which means a few pages of sceletal naked mole dogs, troglodytes, antmans, fire imps and even a sceletal troll and giant cave swallow. the location is here:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

possibly other interesting places in the same worlds as it has a crazy amount of rivers and volcanoes, could be easily tweaked to non-evil settings (i was looking for a world with a waterfall full of zombie carp/hippos next to a magma vent, with no luck so far)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

i am wondering here, what should i tweak to get more creatures, like zombie/sceletal elephants, carps or other Fun Stuff?

Can someone help me get a world in 31.03 with a large waterfall without aquifers in the area? preferably with multiple soil layers. Freezing in winter would be a bonus.

how about an 29 z level waterfall? http://rs485.rapidshare.com/files/378931745/region4.zip its a map from a friend and has 2 or 3 soil layers too the waterfall is about 10 tiles before the brook merges with the really really deep canyon river

Do old 'recipes' work with DF 2010?  If not, anyone got some new good ones?

...They... somewhat do. You have to go into the ini and add some things, such as the caverns, demons etc. I managed to get Gorren's Modded working (lots of volcanoes and rivers!), although I had to tell it that yes, the maximum height for peaks can indeed be 400.

Easiest way is to go to the nearest type of default worldgen and double check the entries line by line, adding where needed.

So Ledi's been training the cats into an army of disposable warbeasts?  Why did no-one think of this sooner?!
Hellcannon seemed to be constantly on the verge of death and Levergedon before my turn helped, but ultimately what killed it was Ledi's cat army.

Sorry to bump but I modified the 'HUMANS' preset to include other races. I was sick of only having humans in the world. This takes a hfs of a long time to generate though.

I was wondering if someone could help me find an island by a lake shore.

I'm looking for a small island, yet I can access the shore... and if there are goblins I'll be ecstatic.

Give cats natural metallic armor and throw them in your danger room.  Also allow their mouth and tail to grasp (shield in mouth, weapon in tail xD)  Have a cat based military.  You know, do the same with all tame animals xD send in the cats as shock troops to disrupt the archers

Apologies for the bump.
This worldset gives a second completely uninhabited continent in addition to the mainland. The continent is rather small, but contains a variety of biomes including mountains and areas without aquifers. Perfect for a little peace and quiet.

Zack, my boy, practicality - or the lack of it - has never stopped a Dwarf Fortress player before. You want to find a way to play this game without your eyes? Someone here with the know-how will be able to help you and we'll be damned if we let a little thing like the practicality of a solution get in our way.

I need a little help in worldgen. I'm currently trying to maximize the potential for waterfalls. I have the parameters set to heavily bias very low and very high elevations, turned off periodic cliff erosion, and I set the river settings to 800/800. Yet I get no waterfalls. I get massive cliff faces, but all the rivers simply cut right through them. What am I doing wrong?

My computer isn't very fast and I'm not too sure on how to tweak the files. I want a more 'fun' embark on a pretty small area (so it doesn't take literal hours to gen a world). By 'fun' I mean, plenty of flux, plenty of metal ores, high z-level magma, plenty of things to attack me (I want to try a military fortress), not too many z levels (so caverns and clowns/cotton candy aren't too far down). I want to be sieged and hit by many titans and megabeasts.

Is this doable?

Flux + Magma generally doesn't happen unless you max the Volcanism randomness.

Should get you a lava pool in the middle of a forest or the like.

For caves, you're going to want few layers (I think default is 3 and max is 5) and few z-spacing between layers (default I think is 50).
