I've got a world that's okay so far. I changed figures for titans, megabeasts, superbeasts, demons, etc but all I've noticed so far is one FB attacked me (I breached the caverns as early as possible).

I also set up in a Terrifying area which was fun at first but now nothing attacks? When I first started I was constantly battling off Werewolves, Orgres, Harpies, Dark Gnomes, etc but they all seem to have stopped now... Did I kill them all D:

edit: Still nothing has attacked me... Even though I set the enemy limit so high, I did run the generator for 1080 years. Did they all die off? I have no idea how long or what changes if you end it early/late

Seems a bit odd all this stuff is all crammed in one thread that's lasted this long...anyway.

0.31.18

This is my current favourite.  Lots of good, lots of evil, many deserts, and the best part, its a non-square map!  Getting the world to gen at all for non-square settings off of default was quite a bit of work.  Don't be concerned if it skips through 100-200 before it settles on a world it wants to actually make.

Hello, fellow dwarf punishers
Since english isn't my first language I'm having difficulties to understand the advanced world gen. I hope it's alright if I request a little favour here.
I need to make a smaller region (33*33) due to my ancient computer, but it seems that smaller regions always turn out a little bit colourless. What do I need to do for a realistic island (containing a little bit of everything) based on average parameters? My desired exceptions are:

history: 5 years
low: evil surroundings
low: good surroundings
high: neutral surroundings
   high: calm
   medium: wilderness
   medium: untamed wilds
high: forests
medium: plains
low: swamps
low: deserts
low: ponds
low: megabeasts
medium: other civilizations
very, very low: "civilized" civilizations (1 or 2?), for example humans, goblins or elves
very, very low: volcanos (1 or 2)

I also wondered, if it's possible to give the island a more interesting shape?
/edit: I wish to create the whole story for the region by playing. That's why I want to start very early without much history. I hope for new civilizations after some time, but first I need to start in the "stone age" with only a few other civilizations.

Can anyone help me understand why when i use peoples world gens I never end up with the same world they do?  I make sure to use the right version, I make sure to have the same aquifer settings, I make sure to copy the text correctly into the text file, I make sure to chose the right worldgen from the list when using advanced parameters.  I've tried dozens of world gens, and I NEVER get the right world.  I'm using 31.16 so i can use stonesense.

I'm so frustrated.

Are you using the same seed?

What is the seed?  Maybe that is what i'm missing, though I don't know where the seed is?  I just copy/paste what people put in there posts into world_gen.text

If they're not specifying a seed, the its just the settings they use.  It doesn't come out to a specific world.
(Which means you're not going to get the "same thing")

But people post the world gens and supply a screenshot of where to embark.  And say "try this great embark!".  And I copy the thing over, but my world is different.  In this thread alone theres several instances of this, and then I see people talking about the same river, the same veins, the same civilizations, the same exact embark, all using the worldgen.txt that I'm using, but I don't get what anyone else gets.

Ok like for example, in this post, where is the seed info?

http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=60021.msg1647596#msg1647596

Is it just: [SEED:1237524024]

Because then, yes I am using that.  I'm on windows 7, version 31.16, aquifers on.  It's got to be just some stupid thing i'm overlooking!

Also thank you so much for trying to help!

Mayday 31.16 only

That's why.  Mayday is not a graphics pack, its a graphics pack and mod.  There are some slight changes to the RAW files that can, and do, alter world gen.
