So, now that ToadyOne has confirmed in the bugs forum that elven war tendencies are intentional, I have a few curiosities and a few... well, requests I guess.
1) I wonder if diplomacy will be tweaked to make elves somewhat more likely to wage war on the goblins and kobolds and such. If not, then they are quite clearly more of an Evil Race now, albeit one with more cause for their actions than simple malice.
2) Will humans who worship nature gods learn to respect elven ways? I would like to see elven war have a purpose, forcing surviving humans to not chop down trees and hunt animals. Otherwise we see a few dozen humans struggling futilely to build their wooden palisade to protect them and their cattle from the 3000-strong elven army that is marching up to kill and eat them. It seems a little pigheaded.
3) Similarly, elves getting trounced by tree-killers may want to learn to cut back on their cannibalist ways. Basically I am sayin' that sides should have certain practices marked as "compromisable" for the purposes of diplomacy. Ideally, perhaps, Elves could agree to stop eating humans if humans stop eating animals. But such, of course, would not be the default setting: both sides would have to work towards it during worldgen
4) Finally, if the elves are going to be so gorram aggressive and cannibalistic, I think they *need* to recognise non-forbidden items. There needs to be a flag, for example, on items made from goblin leather from a goblin killed in combat. The elves clearly believe that such a goblin should not be left to rot, so why do they freak out when the dwarves show them a nice bag made of TreeKillingGoblin? Likewise, wooden items purchased from elves or made from wood purchased from elves needs to be recognised as "elf safe". It would be cool if driftwood also fell under this category.
