Wandering a goblin fortress, instead of the more usual "you've not seen this" black, there's a rather ugly gray

It kind of looks like you are up a few levels, though usually that sky is cyan or something.  Maybe its the stone floor far below.

I'd buy that, but for the fact that it's inside the fortress, which is flat. It doesn't show up clearly on the main page, but check the "1 level below" box; that's a lot of gray.

It could be just fog, the weather system allows for this sort of thing but it just doesn't happen very often so it's not very well documented.

Or maybe not, I don't know, just taking a wild guess here.

I haven't seen that before.  Do your unexplored areas always look like that in this version?

Looks like it's your sky texture, albeit screwed up.

On the right side of the page, it's quite obvious it's also inside the tower so I'm doubting its the sky textures.

I did save it immediately, but when I loaded it up again it was all hunky dory, so it may be that my computer starved D.F. of resources and it produced this.
It wasn't ubiquitous, just this one time I dismounted from the Travel Screen and it took me a while to notice what was wrong.
