Is there a way to retrieve the seed value for a world?
« on: July 12, 2008, 07:49:59 pm »

I generated an interesting world lately, but I've misplaced the paper on which I'd written the random seed that produced it.  Once the world is made and played-in, is there a way to determine what seed was responsible?

If not, I should make it a suggestion that the value be stored in an accessible manner.  It's much easier to transmit the seed than an entire file, and it takes far less memory storage to save it.

Start a fort, and under the 'esc' menu, choose 'export local image'.  The image will be accompanied by a text file with the relevant info, including the seed number.

If software was real world, then it'd be something equivalent of hitting a nail with a hammer and having a building collapse on the other side of town.

Don't worry people, sometimes -moments occur
