Invisible titans? Strange red carots?
« on: July 12, 2008, 05:56:58 pm »

Hello again. The help in the previous thread was much appreciated by my companion. Lol.

So a king of a civilization gave me a quest to kill a titan. Oh joy!

Upon reaching the cave, I receive some combat messages about a titan and mountain goat fighting. My money was on the titan. From those messages, I deduced that the titan must be on the surface somewhere, so I check the immediate area around the cave. Nothing.

I enter the cave, and explore it thoroughly for about half an hour. No titan. I leave the area.

I do some other little quests then come back, hoping to finally slay the elusive titan. I enter directly in the cave, and am assaulted by many large groups of naked mole rats, antmen, rat men, etc. The cave is about 4x more populated than before. I don't find the titan in the cave, but at least I could decorate many of the walls with the blood of his minions. Then I get combat messages about a giant eagle and titan fighting. My money is on the titan again, but even more, I am excited to know that the titan must be on the surface.

I explore all the area marked by the quest log, (hitting z when you are in the quest area) and still find no titan.

I have sworn to destroy that king's civilization if I don't find that titan in a year. Has anyone else been deceived by conniving kings in this manner?

I've had a similar problem, just with a civ itself and not a quest target. The dwarven queen kept owning goats untill one of them bit her left lower arm off but i never saw a trace of them. My theory is that they somehow end up ontop of trees or something.

Or on top of roofs.

Mountainhomes don't have roofs. Neither do caves.

Caves don't have trees either.  Unless they're towercaps, but I've never seen those in a game-genned dwarven fortress...

I can never find chasms either. I always get spammed about various monsters falling into them, but never have I had the fortune to watch the monsters tumble in like lemmings.

I found a chasm once, there were like fifteen antmen nearby, and I was filled with joy as I knocked them into the abyss.

I have a little addon that lets you warp people around by inputting various coordinates. More often than not, I use it to warp people or things I want to kill right next to me so I don't have to go through the bother of wandering around for 15+ minutes trying to find a stupid minotaur in a cave system and promptly get my eyes gored out.

Sometimes, though, I just use it to actually know where the stupid blight is located so I can hunt them down. They can get in the strangest places, I've noticed.

Chasms are a potentially underground feature: they can often only be found through digging rather than exploring. As such, your adventurer isn't going to have much luck, but you might consider building a fortress there if you really want to see a chasm.

Yeah ma'am see the problem you have is you've got roof wolves. They're pretty common round here sometimes. The only thing I can do in this case is put a puma statue up there and hope it scares them off.
Whats that ma'am? You want me to shoot them?
