[Sucession Game] Angel of Wards
« on: July 12, 2008, 08:29:24 am »

Since The13thRonin never started a game so will i take the matters into my own hands :P.

The plan is to create a fortress wich will survive 10+ years. So where should we place the fortress then?

My suggestions on fortress placement are Goblin Tower and Magma Pipe.

Anyone in for a quick game :P? (No delays measured in days and weeks.)

If you can actually find a goblin tower next to a magma pipe, epicness will ensue provided you don't die in the first year.

Sign me up for slot three.  Oh what fun we'll have.

Your in, so should we look for a site with BOTH a Goblin Tower and Magma Vent :P?

Sounds awesome.

I thought you meant you were already looking for a site with both.  But yeah, I have seen it happen before, but don't feel commited to it or anything.  I'll try genning up some small worlds and see if I get any good seeds.

EDIT: Of course, when the new version launches in a couple days, you can probably just make a good map, but why not do it the hard way now?

Actually, I found a perfectly usable seed on my very first try.

SMALL
[SEED:2485085943]

If you follow the mountain range south-east, the second to last Tower has an exposed magma pipe right next to it, an aquifer for water, about 40 gobs led by a master lasher, and if you select a 4x4 area, the wagon spawns on an outcropping that shouldn't get immidiately shot to peices.

What do you think?

Looks Hawt ;D!

We take this :3. So what setup do you think we should do?

Military setup with Crossbows and bolts + Basic Tools. (No Anvil)
Production setup with anvil and minimal ammounts of food. (With Anvil and lots of seeds)

Any setup you think will keep you alive through year 1.  After that it's really just playing by ear.

But please please please reduce the embark area to 4x4.  My computer can't handle any more I'm afraid, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Can be done (Did infact).

I think i will go for a mix between them both. (1 Crossbow dwarf with 5 stacks of ammo. And a Anvil)

Well then, i will start now the first try :P.

4 6x4 plots can feed a fortress forever :)
