Granted, but they're generally an integral part of satire. 

There was nothing satirical about that as far as I could tell, and I should be able to by now.  Irony means never having to say you mean it (Linda Hutcheon, Irony's Edge: The Theory and Politics of Irony ), but that doesn't mean you get to have it both ways.  Acting like an ass and then trying to pretend it doesn't count with empty claims of it being 'satire' just makes you look like... well, an ass.

Eh?  When did they stop being taboo?  All he did was point it out (breaking it humourously in the process).  If they weren't taboo words, there wouldn't be anything funny about that piece any more.

The " mode <whatever> +b" is the indicator that he was banned. A "mode" denotes a change in a user's status; there's also ones for Op level promotions.

I know a thing about IRC. Or at least I used to, before I forgot most of it...

From what I've seen of the logs, there seems to be a bit more going on here, and it wasn't just a simple case of swearing.  If you had a problem with the original kick from the channel, you should have emailed me about it, rather than calling people "FAGGOT" and referencing Hitler repeatedly.  It's very difficult to take your grievances seriously when you respond in that manner.  This sort of abrasiveness seems to be a common occurrence -- for example, you called Tamren an idiot right here in this thread for giving you some advice that you should probably take to heart if you want to remain on this forum.

Most IRC clients come with a logging function. Because we (the people in #bay12games) were on while Sheezy was on, we get logs.

The heil hitler was a joke because I felt the admins were being nazis.

Being the IRC junkie that I am, I can personally vouch that yes, Sheezy, it was more than simple swearing.

It was a huge part of it, sure. But the thing is that you were pretty consistently being obnoxious/rude/lewd, people put up with it for a bit, you got some warnings/kicks, and even when that would happen you would come right back and shout "HEIL HITLER!" or some similar nonsense.

Face it, when you're in an IRC channel and you keep doing stupid stuff despite warnings and kicks, you're going to end up getting banned, because nobody really wants to deal with that. If you would have shaped up a bit and acted civilly, nobody would have cared.

People curse on #b12g. It's just part of the atmosphere.  The part is that you cursed more than anybody else (a LOT more), and you were randomly spammy, and you brought up totally irrelevant junk that was discouraing people from having something like a normal conversation.  As for why no action was taken sooner, it was because we were hoping that you would come to understand the mood of the channel, to settle down and fit in.  Sadly you did not.
