So, all my veins of adamantium is converging on one spot, I'm thinking thats where the demon pit is.

Just how tough are they?   I have about 10 meele dwarves in full steel plate and legendary in their weapons and one champion in full adamantium plate with near max stats all the revelent fields.

Would this suffice?  If I dig into the pit they pop out there right?

 Lets put it this way:

Entire mountianhomes filled with champions and 70+ civilians have tried to take on the horrors of the deep, but have only met full-scale death.

I say try it. Loosing is fun!

I bet you could take frog demons.  Spirits of Fire however, will own you.

But by all means, go for it.  Be sure to film it and put it on mkv25.

Hmm, well, I have a 30 ish long tunnel dug out towards it, I think im gonna put a couple of ballista there and see if that helps.

Oh and how do you make/view movies?  I've never used it before?  Is it basically like a replay in other games(ie list of commands) or is it more like fraps?

Look that would certainly work except when spirits of fire and other long ranged demons attack. then flood the place and seal it off. and film it because while losing is fun watching someone lose is awsome.

I think the ; button starts the movie feature, which gives you a bit more info. It saves the video somewhere, which you can upload to a DF Movie site whose URL I cannot remember. Ask someone else.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

No matter how tough you are, getting your arms torn off is going to kill you.

I reccomend cramming 50 marksdwarfs duel wielding crossbows into one square. Equip them with everything a soldier could ever want (espicially quivers! 25 is NOT ENOUGH)

It worked for me.

They only use one weapon at a time though. The second one is in case their primary weapon gets stuck in an enemy or dropped or such, then they can just pull out the spare one.

1. Put an expendable dwarf (with mining enabled) in the tunnel leading to the pits
2. Wall him/her off
3. Have this dwarf dig into the pits, exposing them.
4. Avoid pits
5. ?
6. Profit!

Cost: 1 dwarf, 1 pick
Gain: more adamantine than you can realistically use, without risk of demons.

Seriously though, if you actually want to kill the demons you shouldn't entirely rely on a military.  Use a cave-in, spike traps hooked up to a lever, or some other similar technique to kill and disorganize most of the demons and mop up the rest.

After that, make ballista in your hallway
Let the champion fight the demons
then wack all of them with the ballista

Cost: Your military
Benefit: Killing of Spirit of Fire. Guaranteed (just don't let them near the damn coward siege operator)
