He can always get more 'till the ending sequence. He can improve for then. Right now he is mayhaps four areas away from the ending sequence.

 Also, I did my first Ballos run without a life pot. Not a problem.

 Everyone is a wimp when you know how to fight them. This is the guys first playthrough, when that thing kicked all our asses.
 Also, make that six areas if he has not made it out of the labyrinth yet.

 And Jenka will continue to give you life pots if you talk to her, 'till near the end where some dog somewhere gives you them. Getting back to those areas to get a new life pot is still enough of a pain in the ass that you want to save it for hard boss fights.

Uhh... no, I'm the one who handed Monster X his ass my first time with him, not the other way 'round.

Then again, I think I totally killed the core the first time, too. Dunno why it's so hard now...

I've had some... trying times against Monster X. I arrived at the conclusion that while the Bubbler is the best defence, using the Lv3 blade to clear out the initial obstacles is the best strategy. The Lv3 Blade is good because it has an area attack, but otherwise the Lv2 Blade is the real boss-finisher. Well, that or Lv3 upgraded missile launcher.

Am I the only one here who has ever beaten the game(including Ballos) using and ONLY using the Polar Star?

It's how I figured out that you are in fact required to aquire the Fireball and Blade(though nobody ever said I had to USE them ).

Ok, so I cheated a bit at the end with Curly, but most of that wasn't because I wanted to(since you can't ditch her in Hell).

 Never tried it, because I figured that never using a life pot for Ballos is good enough of a challenge to raise my e-peen score. But before the Spur I would generally just use the polar star.

I just killed that strange... uh, scarab thing with four smaller scarabs floating around. It was the core of the labirynth, or so I read, and then...

SHE died! Why? Whyyyyyyyy!?



Oh at least I can take her body... oh wait I can't... Waterway? Currents? I won't be able to get back, nooooo!

That game starts making me sad.

And I don't want to spoil, so I won't.

But I will say that you'll want to play through a second time.  <3
