Of course, we need to look at the other side of the issue here. The original translations were made by fans who may not have known the intentions of Pixel in what he wanted to portray. This is closer to what Pixel wanted to say.
The original is a Japanese battle cry.  It's quite a stretch to think that the Japanese-speaking author's intent was to use a tired-out American meme.

Then we must question the quality of the translators at Pixels command.

Whether or not it was, "Huzzah" became the signature phrase of Balrog. Altering it for the sake of linguistic accuracy is pointless, and will detract from the game.

You guys are thinking like people who've played the game so much that you've memorized lines.

I don't think this title on the Wii is marketed or intended for you, for better or worse. You're essentially complaining to a brick wall. A brick wall that houses vats of silly rich people on the other side.

I don't know how many people there are that never heard of Cave Story. Most people that have a console also have a PC.

Even though there are other changes to the translation in the WiiWare port, they aren't critical. But Balrog's "Huzzah!" was rather unique. I see no reason to change it, especially since the battle cry - "Dorryaa!" or smth. - doesn't rightly translate to anything.

I think that people are reading to much into "Oh yeaaah!".  I guess you could read it as a Kool-Aid reference, but that's really not what it sounds like to me...and if it wasn't for that assumed reference, it doesn't really sound all that lame IMO.

And I say that as a fan of the game...

He says it while bursting through a wall.  The odds of it not being a reference are so low they'd go negative if you divided them by two.

Actually, I've been questioning their competence ever since they revealed "grasstown" translated better to "bushlands".  Despite it being completely the opposite of the scrub-brush-laden, arid, australian-outback-like environment that the word bushland implies.

I'd be fine with them having a different translation if it actually made improvements.

An unrelated observation - Qmarx, that has to be the third TTGL-themed avatar except mine that I see on these forums lately. Are we having an influx of anime-liking people?

I've had this avatar since episode fifteen or so. (though not on this forum, obviously)

So probably not an influx.

Funny thing is, I have memorized them.

Oh, and a little joke for people who have found a certain hilarious hidden item:
