And when you do, don't forget to wait around in the resting room place.  Don't make the same mistake I did and leave her there.  I felt pretty awful about that, and not just because it meant I'd have to start over again.

That post inspired this little bit of wasted insanity.

OH DEAR GOD THIS WHOLE THREAD IS NOTHING BUT SPOILERS NOW! AHHHH!!!

I'm only partway through Grasstown, never played before, was trying to go through the game being surprised...  I'd rather not have read that some of the characters die.  I mean, I probably could have guessed that it would happen, since everyone's always raving about the story, but still, now I'll be expecting it, and I even have an idea of which ones.

I got all overconfident by the use of the spoiler tags early on in the thread, figured I wouldn't accidentally learn anything important if I just read the thread all the way through...  I cannot unread what I have read. :( Damn it, this is like when I was in high school and everyone assumed that everyone else on earth had seen the movie The Sixth Sense, and were talking about the ending as though there was no one in the world who still wanted to be surprised by it...  I still feel like I never properly enjoyed that movie because of that.

You know, I'm glad I never went and read anything for KOTOR.  Getting spoiled on that would have wrecked everything.

Okay, I've beaten the last boss... how can I better ending? I mean, I'm sure that 'she' can be saved, and something can be done so the island won't fall.

Someone can tell me what else I can do?

Look at the rest stop room.

If you did everything right, the door will be open after the showdown VS the Undead Core.

The steps for the better ending are a little tricky, so I'll point them out.
 1. Don't rescue booster in the labyrinth.
 2. Before the Core fight look for an item in the lower-right corner of the room.
 3. In the little shack in the Waterway you should mess around 'till it looks like all events have been fulfilled. Keep a save here in case you missed a step.
 4. If everything was done right you should find somebody in the Plantation. Follow the side plot for that little bit completely 'till you get the Iron Bond.
 5. After defeating the last bosses check out the prefrab shelter. Be sure to be healed and have a life pot.

It is really the first bit that is stupid to figure out, but the rest of the stuff can cause you to reset the game if you miss them.

The first bit is less stupid and more easily missable, due to semi-obvious indication of what "should" be done, and much less indication of what "can" be done. I've jumped down almost on instinct to check out wtf that was.

Personally, I fluked the Core fight bit on my first playthrough. And even then, I never managed to get into the Waterway shack until I started a run purposely to complete the game 100%. I think I still have a save in the shelter before the bonus level. I could never beat the bonus boss.

I just thought of something odd: Curly and Quote are called "armed scout robots". Scouts. What sort of unstoppable force would a real war robot from the surface be like? And why would they have anything to fear from the mimigas?

Or course, I'm still trying to get the secret ending(almost there!), so for all I know there is something special about them.

If you've played through the game once, you should already know what eating certain flowers does to mimigas. I imagine those were pretty widespread initially, and IIRC there's even some in-game information that mimigas used those to counter the robot assault.

A plot point in the game reveals that the scout robots in question were, in fact, more like "special agents".

They are peaceful but they can be genuinely dangerous and violent.

Though to me it was somewhat indicative of a much larger plot. Such as using an army of robots to take over the world.
