Workshops and manager orders

Would it be possible to add a section in the workshop profile to designate whether or not the workshop will accept orders from the manager? It's bothersome that some orders get placed in workshops that are set aside for particular tasks.

For example, I have a magma forge for metal crafters. However, I put in a work order for steel arrows and that forge gets filled with 10 orders for arrows that will never be fufilled because I have it assigned to a metalcrafter without the weaponsmithing task enabled.

Perhaps something could be added to limit what types of tasks will be queued through the manager at a given workshop.

Not to speak of the craftsdwarfs workshops .. if you assign your legendary rock, bone or woodcrafters.

this idea would be a great help :)

I definitely want an item in the profile screen that says "Manager may use this workshop."  That is all we really need.

My current solution to stop a manager from using a workshop is to queue up a bunch of dummy jobs and then suspend them.  If I need them for a repeat job I cancel one job and put it on repeat.  But if I want a certain number of items... then I wait for whatever job I designate in the manager section to expire before making a new job for it.

This gets my vote.

In my head, this would be akin to the 'labor' setup of dorfs, except that one could set "allowed tasks" in the workshop profile.


...which would be effing beautiful!  I could limit certain mason workshops to only accepting 'make blocks' orders to train of my dabbling masons; and it wouldn't be interrupted every time I use the manager to order another dozen coffins...

Oh, yes. This needs to be done.

I, for one, want some workshops to keep grinding away on standing orders set to repeat (e.g. mason shops turning out doors, cabinets and coffins, forges constantly producing metal bins and trap components) while using manager orders to make sure certain other things (e.g. floodgates, grates, hatch covers, sets of armour) get produced in the right amounts.

This is a great and useful suggestion and I can't eveen recall how many many times I was frustrated by not having this option.
