Problem with Fey mood
« on: July 04, 2008, 08:10:16 am »

I have built every workshop imaginable and I still have a metalsmith hanging around in my meeting zone like an unexploded bomb. The only skill he has that is 'mood-able' as far as I know is metalsmithing. He's an immigrant, and all he has otherwise is social skills. The only one I don't have isa seige workshop, I'm building one now. It'd be handy if they told you what workshop they needed.

I just sold everything I own almost to the traders to get hold of an anvil, after they -finally- showed up, I got the forge built for him and he's sat there doing bugger all. I'm just waiting for him to crack like an egg and start killing people. Is there nothing I can do?

Nope he doesn't want the seige workshop either...what the hell is wrong with him. I've had this happen before but they usally picked the workshop when I built it.

This page helped me with most/all of my mood related problems.

Maybe its already too late and he's become melancholy or something similar.

I fixed it. In desperation I tore down the magma forge I made for him, and made him a normal metalsmith's forge. That made a difference, the sod.

He immediately ran off, grabbed three bits of junk and dissapeared into the workshop.

I got Luhmido, "The Single Sacrifice". An Iron crown, worth about 60000. Suh-weet.

Yeah, if you've got magma forges or glass furnaces then it's a good idea to build a normal forge and glass furnace somewhere else (even if they're never going to be used normally); I've frequently run into that problem, and it's a pain in the arse, especially early in the game if you're low on anvils and metal and have to remove one of your existing magma forges temporarily so you can let the eejit use a bog-standard forge...and you then don't have some of the things he wants >:(

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

Is this going to be changed at any point?
Or is it a feature that fey dwarves are dickishly picky.

I noticed this with glass furnaces, they always seemed to "prefer" normal ones, nomatter where they got their mood, didn't know that they ever refused magma versions.

I had a problem with a weaponsmith wanting my magmaforge (without magma, it was on it's way there) rather than my normal forge. Couldn't get him to change his mind, so he went on a berzerk rage and killed my trader...

I think it's something that's going to be changed, yes.
