I learned that capitalist economics is, in fact, the root of all discord, misery, and strife, and that Dwarf shall never be free until the last King is strangled with the ☼Dwarf Leather Thong☼ made from the entrails of the last Tax Collector.

If you give people complete freedom to design anything someone will eventually make a giant penis or design their fortress to look like one.

How to translate "igneous extrusive" in French.
And a lot of other words I probably will never use in my life-time, even if I plan to become a translator.  :D

I learned how to be surrounded by dwarves (namely you guys/girls), i learned how to make plaintive gestures, i learned its better to dump then to store stuff, i learned how to milk purring maggots, i learned i actually detest purring maggots to begin with, I learned i admire the toad for its strength (or something), i learned to forbid all materials of less value whenever i'm struck with a fey mood,....
Seriously though, i learned more about rocks and minerals and that they indeed rock. (ofcourse after wiki-ing said stone first) And i mostly learned that the gamesbusiness needs more people like Toady.

Lots of new words...
(Excellent, since English is not my maternal language.  ;)

Hmm... Never did try that... What did that produce?  Gruel?

Which tragically goes nowhere as there's no same-sex relationships in DF.

(feel free to throw pig-tail socks at me for that one)

Alcoholism isn't a problem, it's a solution!

(I think the few problems in my life could easily be solved by alcoholism. I'll worry about my liver when I'm 40!  :D Woohoo!)

Better a bottle in front of me then a frontal lobotomy.

Indeed, DF has totally changed my approach and attitute towards gaming as a whole.

Honestly, I think more games should end like DF: With the player always losing. That way we appreciate our time playing it more than seeing a "win" screen.

Granted, I still tend to *win* most competetive games I play. But I find I care far less now than I used too if I don't.

I've learnt that if dwarves really existed, they would crash the universe because of their intensive pathfinding.

i've learned to write "dwarf" instead of "alcohol dependant" on my yearly health check-up at work   :D

i've learned that cats are bad-ass guard animals (except for my neighbor's cat who is terrorized by a pair of magpies).

i've learned that my job at the toilet paper factory is much more fun when i envision my workday in terms of df.  (and if i didn't do my job you would all be in deep do-do   :p ).
