Holidays

How about adding holidays?  I think that this would add -great- character to a game already chalk full of interesting details.  If an event was deemed major enough (based on several factors--enemy deaths in X amount of time, discovery of Adamantine, the death of a particularly heroic dwarf, a tragedy to be remembered, etc) then the dwarves would declare that day a holiday, and all work would be canceled for one day, while the dwarves get hammered and vomit in the river.  The dwarves would gain some particularly potent good thoughts from the event.  I think that this would be tremendous fun, as long as the benefits of a holiday were significant enough to outweigh the lost work day.

What do you guys think?  Toady?

Probably when a new version comes out with z-levels and holidays, then maybe someone makes a fortress like this (side view) : X.....I.....X
                                                X.....I.....X
                                                X.....I.....X
                                                X.....I.....X
                                                ad infinitum
X=wall
.=floor
I=support
then maybe on 9/11/2001 (game time)
a dwarf tantrums and knocks out a support on the lowest level and makes the whole fortress collapse and it would be remembered as a holiday.
