2x5 map with all mountain features + spiders
« on: July 01, 2008, 03:15:28 am »

I figured someone somewhere might care about this or be looking for a nice seed.  I finally found one just by luck.  It has all the mountain features. It also has sand, which means glass.  It also has giant cave spiders, which means fun.  Further it has a bronze colossus on site.  Thankfully they are all away from your dwarfs at start and if you do it right, you can channel and cut them off from your dwarves.  Right now I'm going to be a stealing their cave too... >.>

Nice find! Is there any way you could put the world file somewhere for downloading, for those of us who have modded things?

Ice been looking for a map with a underground river for a while, can you give me some details about it's location? like where is it in relation to the magma pocket or something? Thanks

With my modded version (no socks for Goblins, etc) that seed spun indefinitely. I installed a vanilla copy of dwarf fortress and it came right up. My advice would be to run that seed off of a totally untouched install of dwarf fortress and then just move the save over to your real install. That's what I did and it works fine (...with the sole, weird difference that the soil layers are different...)

Weird, i haven't modded the game in any way, yet a fresh install fixed it. Thanks!

Bug with the pocket worlds. Fixed in the next version (I think?).

Holy cow what an intense map (compared to what im used to). I arrived to find the ledgendary colosus only 15 squares away form my embark point. To the left where i channeled myself into to avoid the colosi is for 15 z levels giant mole and naked mole caves. My scouting of the levels is already done thanks to them but I wont be able to gain access till I get some trained marks dwarves going.

This is going to be an interested start.

a bronze colossus and 3 giant cave spiders?? this map is fun indeed

Edit: I lasted about 10 minutes.  For some reason I decided to capture the colossus right after digging in.  He just *waltzed* through my 3 cage traps.

Flux too, very nice.

I'm so far only worrying about magma and adamantine, I just wish I could get the auto-search program to work so I could start finding the REALLY cool stuff like this :D

I should share some of them in pre-gen worlds sometime...

Indeed they do. These beasts will have to be killed the old-fashioned way - by dipping them in magma, or sending them through a hall of retracting spikes attached to a lever, or even training a large amount of expendable dwarves for years so they may just have a chance of killing a megabeast. :)

Or making an adventurer pre-fortress and pelting the megabeast to death with dirt from hiding.
