Problem: I keep setting my bone carver to make bone bolts. I see him dragging deer bones into the craft workshop, but then he finishes, the bones are gone, but no bolts are apparent.

Well, bones dissapear when season changes and I guess this also applies to anything made of bone... rather sucky if you ask me.

No season change was involved; I looked for the bolts right after the craftsdwarf finished and they weren't there at all.

Make a pile for ammo and check if it ever gets there? I am not sure if that helps, though. I never really got into ranged combat, yet.

Well, I've never seen any bone items, be it totems, bolts or crossbows, they all vanish. :\

Never seen any bone bolts either. Seems like something fishy is going on...

I have no ammo stockpile, so when the craftsdwarf gets done the bolts should either be in the workshop or in his inventory. They're not in either place.

I'm fairly certain I have seen bone bolts before, so this might be a recent bug (or just a really obscure one that only happens under certain random conditions, but probably not).

I also miss a bone crossbow I ordered and bone bolts are nowhere to be found (ammo stockpiles.. they exist? oops).

Come to think of it, I've never seen any of my bone bolts show up in the ammo stockpile, or any bone crafts. That *is* fishy!

I produced a lot of bone crafts and was able to sell them afterwards. But not the bolts.

Speaking of bolts, where do you get metallic ones?

I had a craftsdwarf build 10 batches of bone bolts and as far as I can tell they never showed up. I watched as he finished a batch and went outside to get more bones - there were no bolts in the workshop, no one else went up to collect/haul them, and none of the ten batches ever showed up in my ammo stockpile.

I also made a bunch of wood bolts and never had more than one in the ammo stockpile at any given time. I only had one hunter using crossbow so he must have taken them all, even though every time I looked at his inventory he only had one bolt or sometimes none at all.

...on closer inspection a guy who has been making bone bolts for more than a year has no bone bolts to show for it anywhere.

So, basically, the situation with bolts is as follows:

*bone bolts - are not produced due to bug

*metal bolts - cannot be produced by dwarves (at least I haven't found this option yet)

*wooden bolts - smashed upon the Archery Target as soon as they are produced
