Hence the rules list on the Discussion thread.  Hmm...  I suppose I should probably put movie discussion on there, but I think I'll wait for trouble before putting it up.

I've yet to see your rules list enforced in any way, actually. It's not even endorsed by the only forum moderators. Looking at the "rules" thread, it seems more of a joke than something with a purpose. How do you propose adding this to the list would prevent any further confrontation?

And at the rate we're going, you're going to be putting everything worth talking about on that list since everything worth talking about leads to debate; which some interpret as hostile confrontation.

Well, Kagus did tell me he likes a debate. And I personally find people who force their beliefs on others to be disagreeable. I'm being totally neutral in tone of course. No bad blood or anything. Is it not our responsibility to point out flaws in a system that affects everyone?

The Discussion thread is the only place where I intend for those rules to take effect.  I'm not trying to define the rules for the forum, just the rules for that thread.  They were put in place to prevent unnecessary flaming or topic deterioration.

And there's a difference between a heated discussion and outright flaming...  I was putting up the topics that I personally believe will inevitably pass the heated discussion stage. 


And as for the character (in)flexibility of Jim Carrey, I recommend "The Majestic" and "The Number 23".  I haven't actually seen 23 yet, but judging from this picture, it's probably not going to be what some would consider in his usual line.  The Majestic most certainly isn't.  Umiman.

The Truman Show was alright. I'd put it in the middle range of quality cinema. After all, I did say Carrey had done some work of redeeming quality.

I saw the Truman Show in 8th grade Umiman.  I don't remember much about it, but one of the characters said the S-word, and the teacher didn't know he did Umiman.

[This may be blindingly obvious, but I'm saying it on the basis that sometimes common knowledge to some people is surprising and amusing to others.]

It's called a Robin Reliant (or sometimes Reliant Robin, not sure which is more correct).  They really exist... I still see them on the roads every now and again.
