Children rip up floors? Since when? I've never had that problem.

Deconstructing walls and floors requires no particular profession, so nobles and children will happily do it.

Thanks there, I thought he meant running around ripping up floors for the hell of it, not because they were designated to be destroyed.

How about if dwarves can't achieve their goals then they pick another one depending on past and present events such as, dwarf1 is a mason , dwarf1 saved dwarf2's life, dwarf2's goal is to become a lgendary mason.
Also have hypno-theripists to help with childhood traumas.

Perhaps have dwarves try to independently act on their own wishes occasionally. Like using their freetime to practice their skills. Maybe even taking jobs never asinged to them ,"but ohh it was always my dream to be a smith and we needed more swords anyhow." Or "I think we need a hallway here. No one will notice this secret garden/workshop/shrine to dark things anyhow. whats the worst that can happen?"
