Snoopicus and the goblins
Snoopicus and the reptiles
Refugee problems

So.... my question is this: Is the refugee problem associated with my party with the goblins and the reptiles?

Snugglybear: I''ve seen it, I think, kill dudes one level above it. But the guy was falling into it at the time, as a dwarven sacrifice. So it''s hard to say.

No. The story that was (I think) refugee promblems was sort of molded into the one about Foxtrot. (Although I'm not sure, I was really careful to avoid not having facilities).

Snoop and the pond will be up once I flash it to this computer.

Snoop and the goblins will be put up when I get around to writing about zefie animals.

I have played the game a bit more, and i is with great sadness that I report, the PURPLES (and golds and grays) have shown up!!
Until I get all of the stories cuaght up, I won't be able to actually play the fortress. I'll probably write a status report (with a map and stuff) before then to.

Also, a weaponsmith got a possesed mood and built a steel crossbow. Which sniper would like to claim it? If no one does, I'll give it to Snoopicus on virtue of experience.

The Pond Campaign

Backdrop: A pond was discovered by the miners of Boltcraft. However, it was drained into some lower mining shafts almost immediately, nothing important was submerged. The forges needed iron to produce weapons and armor for the military. There was two different iron veins visible in the pond walls.
Objective: Eliminate all hostiles in the pond area.

Plan: An additional entrance would be dug in the pond. Mirza and Snoopicus would take up positions in the tunnel. The sword master Olon would stand in front of them to provide CQ protection. Once the first bolts were fired, the entire group (recon reports 10) of monsters would charge. The two veteran snipers would easily gun them all down.

Execution: At the last moment, both Mirza and Olon were detained. Snoopicus, believing that they were about to arrive, started firing. He was rushed by nine of the monsters (six lizard men and three frogmen). He bravely opened fire. Before long, they had closed to their attacking range. Snoopicus attempted to bash them back with his shield and then shot them with his crossbow. He was marginally  successful, going through over fifteen bolts in this fashion. Eventually though, they threatened to overcome him. He was wounded slightly but kept fighting.
Eventually, Mirza made his way to the pond and assisted Snoopicus in killing the last three hostiles. Snoopicus had recovered completely before he had even gotten back to the fort. The last frogman was killed by Olon.
Several weeks later, a considerable section of the fortress was flooded after an accident in the arena construction. The pond, and its iron was among the submerged.
   Aftermath:
      Casualties: 0
Injuries: Snoopicus received minor damage which quickly healed. He still had persistent nerve damage (gray in upper spine and brain).
Enemy Dead: Six lizard men, Four frogmen

End Result: Victory, but to no result.

The Goblin Campaign
Backdrop: The goblin hoards have ravaged the generally peaceful zefies for many years now. Our resistance has always broken under the green scourge. Boltcraft shall be the strong rock that zefies can cling to.

   First Ambush
   The Sky Ambush
The first time that an organized goblin military force attacked Boltcraft. Regarded as proof of using terrain as a multiplying factor and the difference that superior training can make.

Combatants:
One squad of goblin pike men

Zefies:
RAWR, Drill Sergeant of Boltcraft, Axe Master.

Irregulars: (Fought for goblins)
Two Goblin Thieves
One Kobold Thief

####

Location:
The battle occurred at the old upper entrance. See attached diagram. It was protected by one cage trap.
Opening moves:
The cage trap tripped when a goblin thief tripped it. The warning system was activated. Rawr was deployed to guard the upper entrance. On his way up the stairs, the kobold was spotted. Rawr destroyed it in combat, removing several limbs before he cleaved it in half. He eventually reached his station point. Rawr positioned himself on the captured goblin cage.
The second goblin thief was apprehended (read killed) by Rawr shortly after his getting in position. Rawr was then engaged by the primary goblin force. Despite their superior reach and numbers, Rawr easily killed them all, hunting down several who ran.
   Casualties: 0
   Injured: 0

   Enemy dead: All of them
      2 Goblin Thieves
      1 Kobold
      1 Squad of Pike gobs

Idiot Strike
   The Goblins Strike Back.
Reaffirming the importance of scouts, this is remembered as a very poorly executed assault. It is very important to know your target when you attack.

   Combatants:

1 squad of goblin hammer men lead by 1 crossbow goblin

   One angry ettin

<For some odd reason, the page with the specific combat details has been removed it‘s almost as if someone decided to go and tape it up in the dining room or something>

I just finished the last of the battle records. Here we are, Iluog's battle:

Fisherdude’s fight
A squad of goblins revealed themselves as a local fisher was trying to catch salmon in the brook. The legendary wrestler, Iluogo was deployed in a desperate attempt to rescue him.

Combatants:
   One squad of goblins

Zefies:
   Iluogo, Champion of Boltcraft

Zefie Reserve:
Atis Sinewsalves, Commander of the Zefie Army at Boltcraft.

When the enemy was spotted, the only nearby zefie was Iluogo. Atis had early decided that, due to his lack of weapons, Iluogo should never fight alone. The wrestler ignored this order, later citing highest ranking at scene prerogative to change the rules. The brave zefie rushed against the goblins and the civilian was able to get inside. The combat was not looking good. The goblins were able to surround Iluogo and used their superior range to their advantage. Iluogo was still deadly though. He grabbed a goblin and ended its miserable life in a second. Dodging the weapons, he grabbed another. The process was repeated again.
Iluogo made to grab the third goblin, shouting, “Which one of you damn bastards is next?”
In the time he had been talking, the third goblin was dead. The rest routed like the trice accursed yellow bellied cowards that they were decided to make a tactical withdrawal and ran. Iluogo grabbed a fourth goblin and proceeded to kill it a bit slowly. It was at this point in time that the zefie gasped in pain. He felt a wound in his side. One of them must have hit him after all.
When the battle began, Atis had immediately started running. At this point in time, he finally arrived at the battlefield and helped Iluogo dispatch the final goblin.
   No zefies killed.
Iluogo sustained moderate injuries, but healed quickly.
   Four goblins dead.

The Siege
Thank god, I’m finally getting around to the last of the battles. Then I can get around to dealing with my new, magnificent project idea and the nobles (duh-duh-duh).

Opening moves:
Tired of the failure that ambushes had achieved, the goblins traded stealth for numbers. Fifteen goblins bearing axes and lead by  Em Stozuotkel, a pike user. They appeared at the southern end of the brook and immediately upon being sighted, charged.

   Zefie response:
The emergency activation system was put in place and the trader entrance was promptly sealed. The goblins would be forced to wind their way through the decoy entrance. The zefie army would have plenty of time to muster in the battle hall.

Order of battle:
The army would form several defensive lines. Inside the battle hall itself, the champions would fight, supported by the snipers. If the elites were overwhelmed, the reservists and normal rank regulars would protect the staircase to the lower levels. The emergency force and the injured reserve would defend the bottom of the staircase. In the event that even this line failed, the entire populace of Boltcraft would be deployed to rush the goblins.
Ducim Workdawns had been injured several months earlier, but considered herself more than capable of fighting the goblins herself. She had been activated with the third-string force. While she was rushing to pick up her equipment, the first of the goblins were set upon by the cage traps. In a spurt of dementia, whether caused by her brain damage or by some foul god, Ducim rushed to grab the captured goblin’s shield. She was, at this point, armed with only some good quality leather armor and an old copper sword. She rushed through the decoy entrance unnoticed in the chaos of the elites drawing up their lines and the snipers getting in position and loading bolts.
Ducim rushed headlong into the goblin hoard (numbering 12 after the cage traps). The leader called out, “KILL THEM ALL,” leveled his pike, and charged.
Ducim met the rush head on, leaping over oncoming death. She plunged her blade into the goblins throat. The two collapsed in a tangle. The goblin lost hold of his weapon and drew a dagger, plunging it into the lightly armored zefies side. Ducim bashed the goblin’s head in with pommel and blade. The other goblins closed and attacked the brave soldier. The goblin leader and Ducim Workdawns died together.
The lines had been drawn in the battle hall. Mirza said that she heard a war cry further down, and the sound of metal wringing. Rawr gasped, “I hear it too, it’s a zefie!”
Simultaneously, the sword master Olon and Commander Atis swore. Atis gave his orders, “The tunnels were made to prevent an army from moving fast, there are too many bends for bows. Snoopicus, you and your men will hold your ground. Iluogo, Olon, Rawr. To me!”
With that, Atis drew his blade and rushed into the winding tunnels, yelling a war cry that echoed with strange ferocity. His champions and Olon followed closely behind. As Olon ran, he suddenly felt a sharp pain where had accidentally been cut while sparring, despite the pain he tried to keep running, but was forced to slow down. “Ustuth damn this wound!”
The goblins charged into the cave, at first they were worried about further traps, but they were quickly emboldened by their absence. In their blood lust, not even the echoing warcies could deter them.
Atis rounded a U-bend at full speed, actually leaping off a wall. Barely 40 feet in front of them were the goblins. With Iluogo on his left and Rawr on his right, Atis met the goblins on the field of battle . . .

The three zefies lowered there weapons. Rawr pulled his shield from a goblin that it had been embedded in. No goblin would ever report of the failure ate the first siege at Boltcraft. Olon limped onto the scene to see two tired but unhurt zefies and the fringe of Atis as he continued to run.
Atis was found kneeling at Ducim’s corpse, his sword plunged into the ground. Through tears he could be made out as saying, “I’m sorry, old friend. I should have been more careful. Forgive me Ustuth. Have mercy on her soul.”

The First Siege of Boltcraft was later regarded by historians as a great victory. It never seemed that way to those who fought in it.

I’m quite proud about how I wrote that. So dies one of the founders of Boltcraft.

This concludes the battles up to the current point. I think that the next things will be a review of the fortress. I do believe that it is time to reintroduce Warthog to the mix, eh?

I’ll have a roster for all of our zefies, but coincidentally, how do I go about taking the screenshot for profiles? I just get export local image and such.

Do respond, I’ll probably have half of them written before I post this, and I  hate sitting on my stories.

Warthog had been down in the dumps lately, after (he guessed) Foxtrot had mentioned some thing to someone higher up, he had been promoted (sort of). Mayor Zulban had decided to do a complete reorganization of the entire zefie workforce. Notable to the metal working standpoint, There would be one armorer, one weapon smith, and one general metal smith. Obviously, Warthog was not qualified to be in charge of armor, high quality plate was of the highest importance and there were more experienced zefies than Hog around. However, Warthog was put in charge of all non-military metal crafting.
That was all fine and dandy, but after one copper grate, there wasn’t anything for him to do. He mostly got to stare into the magma underneath his forge. He would occasionally go to talk to the melters, but Warthog couldn’t take away their work by helping with bar creation. Out of boredom, he counted all of the metal bars that were in stock.
He had just finished the lead stocks (13 bars) when Razor approached. Razor had recently been declared a Champion of the axe, and was the first ‘second string’ or non-founder to do so. Razor told Warthog that he was wanted in Zulban’s office ASAP. Grumbling about PM-TAJ (Pointless Military Type Acronyms and Jargon) and wondering what he was needed for now, the young zefie walked up from the forge level, past the barracks, through the primary workshop level (shouldn’t someone get around to building new workshops in the newly excavated cavern? There was enough empty space to hold more than enough stockpiles there), and looked into the dining room. He saw Edem Woundpointy and her three children (two twin kids and a baby) arguing with one of the engravers, “I know that the goblin-ettin combat detail are funny, I’m just saying that they would be more appropriate for the drinking hall as opposed to our dining area.”
“This paper isn’t waterproof you know! How would we get it through the waterfall? We couldn’t even temporarily turn it off, the mist permeates everything down there, and we all like it that way.”
“We could write a copy on some rope reed cloth . . .”
<At this point, Warthog has lost interest and keeps walking.>

“You know,” Warthog thought to himself, “a bit of vodka or root beer might steady me a bit before I see Zulban. Anyways, it is hot out and my fuzz is quite dry. A trip through the waterfall will be nice.”

Warthog was eventually carried to his tower cap bed. Foxtrot, one of the carriers mused, “Some zefies should really stick to root beer. <Hic>“

What is Warthog going to hear from Zulban? Stay tuned! Map up soon (I promise!)

I'll claim that crossbow if you don't mind!

Are you going to make my character soon? Until you do, let the most experienced sniper use it.

The map will be up as soon as I get a hold of another flash drive. Of course, I won’t be able to post until I get one so, ummm yeah. We will now begin everyone’s profile! Because I don’t know how to take screenshots other than the map, I won’t be bothering with them unless I feel that they are interesting. Here goes! Zak is now our fourth sniper (actually, he was the third, as I pushed Foxtrot to the fourth spot to better accommodate personality). The super crossbow has not been picked up yet, I had been trying to get all of the snipers to spar in wrestling for a while, but only Foxtrot (lucky break) didn’t have ongoing nervous system problems. After realizing this, I forbid all crossbows except the artifact, and set only Snoopicus to ranged. He didn’t pick it up for some reason. I don’t see why the thing hasn’t been moved to a stockpile yet either, it’s still sitting in the forge, collecting dust. It also has a fun name, the strangulation of cities. Siege a goblin tower anyone?

When Warthog finally awoke (with a strangely weak hangover), he sheepishly made his way to the extra rooms where Zulban had made his office. Warthog quickly found out that:
A) Zulban needed to clean his bedroom
B) He was Boltcraft’s new record keeper, and
C) Zulban did not react well to being woken by having vodka dumped on him
D) Vodka drenched sheets were quite flammable
E) Fortunately, zefies aren’t.

((Remind me to paintify that scene when I get a chance.))
Warthog’s first assignment was to get Atis’ documents in order. Warthog’s slightly bubbly personality was much better for finding things out from people than the Commander’s was. With the enthusiasm born from newness, Warthog got to work:

NOTE: I’ve ignored any stats that I didn’t write.

Um yeah, most of our military is female. This is really against chauvinist zefie military polices. I’ll just ignore it for the time being though. If/when romances pop up, it could get awkward. And awkward is a type of losing (the loss of proper flow, usually). Therefore, awkwardity, by the transitive property, must be fun. If fun is to be achieved, so must awkward pauses!  Where was I going with this . . . Anyway, most of your characters are having their genders ignored. If you have a preference, please say so!  That is, if you want me to actually listen to the gender, I can. Anyway, let’s continue with the story!

Never mind, more OOC stuff first! I suppose the passage of time reflected in my posts sounds a bit strange. I, finally owning a laptop, do all of my writing there. The problem is my lack of a laptop internet connection. I can only post when time and flash drive usage permits. Another aspect of my life explained.

I suppose that I've added enough points to the map tonight, so here is the next part of Warthog's day.

Warthog looked up from his notes on RAWR. Thinking about Dwarven Vodka, Warthog decided to take a break. After all, if he wanted to do a good job recording important people, he needed information, right? His spies seemed to be doing a poor job. Maybe (hopefully) they were just being thorough or careful, but it was irrelevant. Until he knew lots about his subjects, there was no reason to keep writing. Warthog wondered if that cute herbalist, Deler Echolance would be around. As Warthog moved to leave the conference room that he had taken for an office, the sniper Zak stood to attention., right outside the door.
The spy began his report, “As per orders, I attempted to covertly gather information on the other snipers, Snoopicus, Mirza, and Foxtrot.”
Warthog interrupted, “Do they know if you are here now? And come into my office before someone sees you! We ARE right underneath the barracks you know. Where is your squad now?”
“Snoopicus is off taking a nap and Mirza is sampling crumpets. Something about new traveling rations I think. I’m not sure where Foxtrot is though.”
A set of footfalls is heard coming down the stairs, the conspirators looked up, Warthog motions for Zak to hide behind the -green glass statute-. Foxtrot goes into the office, quietly closes the door behind him, locks it, sits down, and says, “Okay Warthog, I completed my mission. I spied on Commander Atis to ascertain his abilities. I also looked in on the new champion, Razor. I successfully checked out the sniper Zak as well.”
Zak burst out from his cover. A startled Foxtrot raised his weapon slightly and heard, “Warthog, I thought that you were ordering me to spy on Foxtrot? What treachery is this?!”
“Of course I did. As I told you both, Zulban ordered me to rewrite all of our personnel records. However, I could not trust any of you while I was doing it. You are all so flip-begotten modest sometimes. We need ACURATE portrayals of your skill to be useful. The only way to gather this information is without the . . . gatheree? Errrrr . . . You, to know it. Therefore, I asked you guys to spy. This way, I could ascertain both everyone’s abilities and your own covertness. Both of you, have a seat. Foxtrot will make his report first, so that I can write notes on the Champions in their proper order.”
The debriefing session would have began, but at that moment, a loud knock was heard at the door. “Warthog, this is Mirza on urgent business. Permission to come in sir?”
“Oh, come in Mirza. We would have probably been talking about in a couple of minutes, you know.”
“What are you two doing in here? I know that, due to the lack of practice bolts, we haven’t been doing much, but you two should be finding useful things to do! Zak, I can see you being lazy but Foxtrot too? I need some root beer . . .”
   “The urgent business?”
“Oh yeah, Rawr received this from Steelcrystal. The defender had apparently gotten it from Kirkost, who was busy attending a party when she was given it by the jeweler, Sodel Chanelednarrow. He had apparently received it from a peasant on his way to bed. The random zefie seemed to have been given it from one of the newly arrived nobles and told ‘give this to someone.’ Rawr opened it and deemed it highest priority to you. I haven’t read it yet; here you are, sir.”
Warthog read the dispatch for a couple of seconds and exclaimed, “What the hell?! More mandates? Electrum shit we can do, but THREE pig iron items?! We have to see Zulban about this. You three, come with me. Wait, Mirza, come with me. Foxtrot, get RAWR and meet us in Zulban’s office. Zak, get Atis. After that, wake Snoopicus up. We’ll have to do for now. MOVE OUT!”
