Rivers in adventure mode
« on: August 10, 2006, 03:49:00 pm »

Hello

I've seen that when you enter an area in wilderness marked as a river you don't find it again in the zoomed map.

This is maybe planned for later ?

Yes, definitely.  There's a lot of map gen missing right now.  Also, coastal cities are going to have shorelines, and the badlands deserts will have canyons and so on.  Should be good stuff.

I've started right an adventure in my old fortress. Brrr, all these rotten cats lying around... That's terrible. I've also found some woden tables close to the river... Weird !

I've also seen that the fortress had done a 90° rotation. I guess that's because in the fortress it was more conviniant to allways have the river to the left and the clif to the right ?

Actually, the rotations are just to shamelessly disorient you, so exploring your old fortress is more of a novel experience -- if your fortress is large enough, you might find green/yellow "stairs".  When you step onto these, it applies a random rotation to cause further disorientation.  However, it's the same each time, so your subsequent adventurers can get used to the place.
