Free forum hosting?

I've decided the best way for my buddies and I to stay in contact is with a forum.
makeforum.org was first on google. Nearly done setting everything up, and I find that I need to pay to get all the features. Son of a -.

Any free forum hosting service that you don't have to pay to get all the features? Or that actually offers all? I don't mind ads that much.
Any reasons to use something besides phpbb2 or 3? bb3 on makeforum was actually laggy.

An instant messenger is only up there yea long. Not everyone around here has a cell phone.
Something they can come back from vacation and check up on without playing phone tag.

Is anyone going to answer my question?

I don't know for sure, but I have seen a few thet I think are free but you can unlock features by spending points earned by people signing up for spam and such...

I don't personally reccomend that you do/don't pick anything like that, only mentioning that I have seen them.

Hey, if you just wanted one or two threads, you could make it a sub-forum of mine.
Or, if you want full control, just go for Bluehost- that's what I use.

Bluehost isn't cheap. Well, it's low, but it's not free and is more than I need.
