Meanwhile the imposter became secretive and created...

From the journal of the imposter...

I have lived in the shadow of my brother all my life.  But now I have taken control of my destiny.  Godum was pleased with my ascension, I felt the pull of the great one, and in his image, with the bones of his minions I created the key to unlocking the true power of Godum.  The great one has spoken to me in my dreams and I know what I must do.  I embark immediately to the most high place to complete my task...

Is the "wrong mayor" the real creator of this artifact? Wow, what an awesome coincidence!
P.S. It reminded me of Morrowind's ash idols =).

Kadol continued her climb down into the ruins of the Demonhammer.  Her body worked methodically on its own, trained by the years of experience her sturdy body had acquired while her mind was deep in thought.

She had the same horrible dream every night until she entered the Demonhammer, then they stopped.  She felt the very vibration of the earth and stone around her and senses sharpened. She was back in tune with the mountain.
"Why have these dreams stopped" she wondered.

                  ******************************

Kezat Scultpurefists was FURIOUS.  Being who she was she took things very seriously.  She sped onto Godums' plane in a firey wrath, and realm-wide earthquake.  "GOODDUUMM", she bellowed across the miserable mucky world.
"Yess, Sssirre" godum bubbled threw the ooze of the terrain.
"YOU HAVE INTEREFERED WHERE YOU SHOULD HAVE NOT SLIME", Kezat blasted with fire  singing the entire realm badly. "You ovverstep your boundariess Ssire". Godum replied wistfully.  "BUT NOT BEFORE YOU HAVE YOURS SWINE", Kezat cracked the ground throughout the entire realm in violent shakes.  "Why havve you come here ssire" Godum said "To pussh arround a lowly god like me""or have you some purposse in dissrupting my home?"  Kezat was furious she ravaged the lands and burned through the air.  "You know why i have come, YOU, have disturbed my lands
won in victory over your own through honorable battle." she roared, shaking the ground violently.  "My lord, I musst apologize, I must not have realizzed Roariron was already deccided." "Pleasse acccept my apoligiess" "Take it to our father and begone" Godum hissed as she expelled Kezat from the realm.

After a long drawn out arguement between the whiny little kids Dad decided and the matter resolved.

Kadol had wroked her way into the depths below the devastation of the Demonhammer.
She could feel the evil of this dark place pressing onto her in a suffocating sort
of way.  It felt as if it were crushing her.  Kadol dropped to her knees and she prayed hard to all she knew, Kezat Scultpurefists.  Sweat poured from her brow as she meditated deeply on her prayers to her God.
Kezat flashed before her, then images of Obok and the dream. Kadol entered a martial trance.  Then she heard a voice, it was Obok!
The imposter ran through the halls beneath the Demonhammer possesed.  He sang boisterously the praises of Godum.  Then he came upon a figure kneeling ahead in the dark.
Kadol was not confused.  In her state she heard only the praise to Godum,  she didnt even recognize that it was Obok as she buried her pick deep into its skull.

Some days later Kadol came out her trance and discovered Obok's dead body.
She was overcome in panic and didnt remember killing her husband.  But that was her pick in his skull, there was no denying that.  Kadol was taken by a terrible fell mood and began bouncing around slamming her pick into the walls of the tunnels and floor about her.  Rage overcame sorrow and indeed some swear they felt the mountain tremble that day.  The legendary dwarf continued on her rampage calling for Kezat to appear and face the consequences for this fate.  Kadol was pissed.

Spring arrived with news Roariron is now considered a barony in the kingdom.
Nobles arrived including that damn tax collector, I have them all satisfied for now...

There is also a baroness consort who arrived, seemed strange enough to be the norm in ROARIRON!

The baron seems livable so far only demanding no rings be exported and no gold items, which is good because I'm almost done rebuilding the roads in gold blocks.

Here is a current view of Roariron from outside.

From the left you can see the northern entrance, the giant building sitting above the stone fall traps is filled with water and has an insta-drain bottom.
The water is pumped up to the top of the building. It is roofed in and pressurizes water.  There are two levers at the top and they self explaining. One is the master refill/tank lever and the other one operates a secondary outlet for future waterworks.  Don't worry the flood gate is completely walled in so you can experiment safely with these two levers if you are unsure, as long as the bottom of the tank is closed!  Where the famous kill switch used to be, there is the master switch for the trap.  Messages reffering to h20 trap are designated in stone.  By activating the trap you open the bottom of the tank and close the bridges, effectively drowning all enemies within.  By deactivating this lever you will close the bottom to refill the tank which will also open the 2 bridges.
On the far right of the map you will notice a new structure.  This is intended to be the base of a new monument....

And now the rest of the story...

Hi. I've followed this thread and taken a look on the map at the DF Map archive, and I'd like to sign up. I don't mind if I have to wait a few weeks, currently I'm busy anyway. There is just one question: You still get traders, right? I mean, you  probably have scared of the elves and humans, but dwarves traders still come to Roariron?

We have good relationships with the mountain homes, I have had no elves or humans show up.  They brought 6 full wagons and 2 mules this year.
When the army arc is done we will be in a good situaton to go attack them,  and expand our domain even if they so choose not to visit us.

Ill put you on the list it seems to go up and down but ill get you a turn when you are able.

Kezat Sculturefists noticed the uproar being made by one of his favorite things.
This one was special.  It burned brightly in the eye of Kezat and he was content.
She would indulge this one for he enjoyed the spirit of battle within it, In fact she had noticed this one since it was brought upon that plane and had great plans for it.
                 *************************************

Meanwhile Godum stewed.  She would have to give back the soul of a powerful thing.
That was the deal.  Luckily she had a plan in place for just such an event.
"You will be releassed, be gone on your long journey home sscum..." godum hissed as she flicked the thing with her tail.
               ********************************************

Kadol cotinued her rant, indeed the dwarves of Roariron all went to their rooms as the groundshakes continued to get stronger and stronger.  Then she felt all the wind sucked out of her and she could not move a muscle, frozen in mid swing.
The groundshakes stopped and the dwarves counted their young and praised the heavens.  Kadol was blinded as the whole cavern was lit up with a pure white light.  She noticed she was in the air now and spinning slowly around.

Kezat was enthralled by the looks of this mighty warrior.  It was truly a shiny object, burning a bright red onto the plane.  She manifested a physical form of what she saw.

Kadol stared at herself.  Or a giant version of herself.  She was eye level with
this giant but it filled the whole cavern.  "Speak", the giant said in a strange  dwarven accent Kadol did not recognize, "for I am Kezat", "I felt your desire".
Kadol knew it was true!  Her soul hummed in vibration to the tune of the mountain.  "Why have you let Obok come to this"? Kadol noticed she spoke in the same strange accent.  "Obok has never left me young one", Kezat said.  "He was taken by his brother, a legion of Godum, but Obok shall be returned to you".
The picture was revealed to Kadol.  She could not beleive she had been deceived.
She was silent as Kezat spoke.
Then the cavern was dark and Kadol crumpled to the ground.  When she woke up she walked silently back to the place where the corpse was, quite pleased with all the destruction she had caused to the rock.  As Kadol neared the body she still wondered if this was all a dream, maybe she had truly lost her mind.
The body was cooling already at this great depth.  Having all of your blood drain out through a giant hole in your chest will do that to you.
She knelt next to the corpse and raised its head.  Then she noticed, there wasnt a know or bump in this skull.  She then knew this was no dream and she dragged the corpse off to do as her god had ordered.

The imposter was buried deep under the Demonhammer in a red gem tomb.  It was then filled with water and a cave croc tossed into the pit with the body.
Then Kadol sealed the tomb and began the long walk home.  She marveled that she found a cave croc even when she knew none to be in Roariron, but Kezat told her where to find it.  And some days later arrived home and began praying daily in the church.  She was thanking Sculpturefists.
