13th Granite, 1053
"We ready?"
"Ya! We steal now!"
The two Kobolds sneak silently through the Eastern gates of Dastotsarek.
"What these dwarfs have, Frodolrimis?" asked Jikiflarbus.
"Shhh qui~"
mew
"huh? little cat see us?"
"Yes, yes it does" Booms a voice from behind them.
They turn and towering above them stands Skadi. Her Spearhead inches from their faces. They grip each other in fear, and scream. No one from Sofolokeeldus has heard from those two Kobolds since that fateful day on the 13th of Granite.

17th Granite, 1053
Skadi and Jorhind slowly patrol the outside border of the Outpost.
"So this is it pretty much." Skadi states matter of factly.
"As long as I'm outdoors I'm happy" Jorhind replies.
"You're weird..." she mutters is response.
They both stop, and look on the horizon.
"Those are some mighty tall folk wandering our way"
"Let's go tell Grukol, I'm sure he'd like to know.
---
Grukol, Lem, and Vag sit and stand near his desk in a small niche of the fort. They have diagrams and pieces of mechanisms laying about.
"Simple Stone Fall traps will do just fine! Trip it, Boulder falls, Head is crushed. Nuff' said!" exclaims Lem.
"That's all fine and good, but if we set up a corridor with one of my ballistae pointing down it, one shot, Four or Five Gobbies skewered!" Vag retorts.
"Look, we have no forges to even make Ballistae Arrowheads. Your idea's can work, just not now. Until then we'll set us up some simple traps like Lem sai~" He stops and turns towards the two Speardwarfette's.
"What is it?" he asks, raising a brow.
"Gruk, there's some Elves heading our way. Looks like a Carav~"
"VAG!" he interrupts
"I'm right here! What!?"
"Can you aim your Catapult to the west?" he asks urgently
"No, unfortunately due to the wall I can only fire North. Until we build more Catapults...You didnt mean to launch boulders at the poor saps?"
"Maybe...yes....Bah, Let 'em in... We'll get this over quickly"
Grukol heaves himself up from his desk.
"Lem get to work on the traps. Vag, when you feel you've practiced enough; Go make some more Catapults. You two, go on break. Drink, Eat, Spar, have a nice day." he shuffles past the four of them, clearly in a bad mood.

And by deity info, I meant "Blah blah is a god of blah blah and typically takes the form of blah blah blah."

If I happen to be an ardent worshipper, it would be kind of important to somehow mix that into the journals or something. And even if I'm not, it's always good to know exactly what I believe in, right?  ;)

"What do you mean you wont take it!? It's a perfectly fine piece of Siege Engineering!" bellows Grukol.
"It's made of wood! You slaughtered a family of trees to make that heathen machinery!" the elf shouts back.
"Slaughtered? Family of trees? WE CUT DOWN SOME TREES TO MAKE THINGS!"
"Also, that cabin made of wood!? What should we think of that Dwarf!?" the elves face contorted from rage. Spittle flew from his lips landing on Grukol's face.
"Did I upset ya Elf? Cut down some wee itty bitty trees? Are ya gonna cry? Oh? What's this?"Grukol bends down and picks up a twig.
"Awwww look at the lil baby" he says cutely, then snaps the twig in half
"Oops!"
"That's it! We are leaving! We have no business with these barbarians" the elf turns to pack his goods.
"I'm afraid you'll be leaving a good deal lighter friend" all the dwarfs congregate behind Grukol.
"I don't wanna see yer pretty faces back here in quite some time..." The elves look at each other, back at the dwarfs and both back out of the Depot and right out of the outpost.

Lem's journal, 19th Granite

Elves... heh... elves.. AH HAHHHAH AHAH! ELVES!!! AHH AHA HAHAHAHH HAHA! ah HAHA!! Alright... getting bored of writing my laughs... I heard of a few fortresses a few years ago being able to trick elven caravans to cast themselves on fortress traps. Sadly the elves got smart to that. Nothing looks better than a boulder crushing an elven baby! AHA AHAh ahAHHa hAHah hAH! Maybe I should go snap one of their left third fingers! Snap it like I'll snap a tree! The world could always use more engravings of me... well, that part of my life is over now. I am now the best engineer in these lands!

Grukol's Journal, 2nd Slate, 1053
I've decided to build upwards. At the moment however, I'm unsure whether our Defensive wall will become a huge castle-like build though, and then we rebuild a new wall further around it. I fear this boredom is taking chips off my sanity. But part of me wants to see a sprawling Cityscape cover this 'jungle'.

As most of the dwarfs are seated eating their plump helmets, Vag bursts into chamber.
"Everyone, I've done it!" she proclaims.
They sit there, and look over at her for a few seconds.
"Done what?" asks Rice slowly.
"I've ascended into the ranks of Legendary Siege Operators. I can feel it in my veins. Hours and hours of practice, has finally paid off. No creature will be able to walk past our defenses without atleast getting hit once by a boulder to the face!" she takes a deep breath, regains her composure.
"Well Grats then friend." Grukol states.
"Now please, go get to fine tuning the MAKING of a siege engine."

Vagúsholon's Notebook, 4th Slate, 1053.
I swear, sometimes Grukol seems to have no appreciation for great skill. I manage to get enough skill to be able to put a boulder into the eye of a rabbit from miles away, and he complains because I haven't been able to make Inashvagúsh yet!
There is only so much a dwarf can do at once! I'm taking his advice just the same. Now that I am unmatched in their operation, I think I will eventually be able to build a better weapon. I think that if I thicken the Longitudinal Regula, there will be less rotation, allowing the refire rate to increase with less worry about permanent warping...
*Formula and Diagrams take up the rest of the page, some with large "no"s scrawled over them, or scratched out. Apparently she still hasn't quite figured it out yet*
